Hwy 49 blocked due to Jumper

   December 16, 2015 at 1 PM:  CHP has blocked off parts of Hwy 49 after reports of an elderly male on the edge of the Williamsell Bridge outside of Mariposa identified by them as a "Jumper".

   Emergency vehicles are en route to the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

Postal PTSD cases extremely high number

   A few months ago we began a study on how many postal workers are actually PTSD cases--some even allowed to work. It's actually very sad, as we feel they should be on disability!

   After researching the reason as the Postal Service many years ago promised to hire nearly any returning service member

Friends of the Fair cancels December meeting

   The Friends of the Fair has cancelled it's December 2015 meeting.

   Their next meeting will  be held January 20, 2015 at 6 PM at Camps Restaurant in Greenhorn Creek, Angels Camp.

Collision at Phoenix Lake

   December 16, 2015 at 11:45 AM:  A green Toyota pickup collided with a big rig at Phoenix Lake Road and Hess Road in the Phoenix Lake area.

   Fortunately no injuries have been indicated, but be cautious if headed in that direction.

Head-on Collision in Twain Harte

   December 16, 2015 at 11:15 AM:  A head-on collision has been reported at Hwy 108 and Twain Harte Drive in Twain Harte.

    Be careful, as debris is in the lanes. An ambulance was dispatched, but injuries are indicated to be minor.

Embarrassed to say.....

   We are so embarrassed that we chose to watch that bunch of "wacky birds" as Senator McCain calls them, in their Republican Presidential debate last night.

   Of course, McCain can't say much!

   On December 15, 2015 authorities found two dead children, aged 6 and 3, inside a storage unit in Redding after an investigation of child abuse

Kitten saved at Galt Recycling

   With all the stuff the Galt Recycling Center goes through in a day, employees feel it was a miracle that at tiny kitten was found still alive.

   Heading down the conveyor belt, it was grabbed just before being dumped into the compression machine.  One of the employees took the very young kitten home and named it "Murphy".

William "Bud" Miladinovich - Lifelong Angels Camp resident

    William "Bud" Miladinovich passed away on December 13, 2015 at Doctors Hospital in Modesto at the age of 87.

   Bud was a lifelong resident of Angels Camp, and resided in the home his father purchased in 1925 until his death.

UPDATE:  Traffic was backed up by the Glencoe Store due to one vehicle partially blocking the roadway.

Thefts in Calaveras County

   On December 15, 2015 thefts were reported:

   By a resident on Pamo Court in Copperopolis, a go kart had been stolen

Sheep Ranch man arrested

   On December 15, 2015 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Jeremy John Trotter (22) of Sheep Ranch at his residence on Armstrong Road.

   Trotter was booked

Black Lab limping on Hwy 108

   December 16, 2015 at 8:25 AM:  A black Lab has been reported limping along Hwy 108 near McHenry Boulevard in Modesto.

  Animal Services has been advised, but be cautious until they can arrive at the scene.

Rollover on Parrotts Ferry Road

   December 16, 2015 at 8:15 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a vehicle rollover near the Melones Bridge on Parrotts Ferry Road.

     A tow truck was dispatched when it was reported that people were still in the vehicle. Watch for emergency vehicles if in that area.

Pig on Winton in West Point

   December 16, 2015 at 8 AM:  A large pig has been reported on Winton Road at Hwy 26 in West Point.

   Be extra cautious (NO, it's not a cop) until CHP can locate the owner.
