Traffic crash in Burson

   December 31, 2015 at 2:30 PM:   A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 12 at Burson Road in Burson.

   Two CHP are at the scene and an ambulance is en route.  Be extra careful if headed that way.

  

Calaveras Supervisors elect new Chair

   On Tuesday January 5, 2016 the Calaveras Supervisors will elect a new Chair of the Board for the coming year. We will be glad to be getting rid of Prayer boy Edsel though.

    Since  Chris Wright is the Vice-Chair currently, he will most likely move into the position of Chair. It isn't clear who might be picked as Vice Chair.

Car slides into bank on Hwy 49

   December 31, 2015 at 8:40 AM:  A white Chevy Tahoe slid on the ice and hit the embankment on Hwy 49 in Carson Hill.

   The vehicle is partially blocking the roadway so if you're headed that way, be extra careful.

Collision on Hwy 4

   December 31, 2015 at 8:35 AM:  A collision has been reported on Hwy 4 at Jack Tone Road, below Farmington.

   Be careful if you're in that area while emergency vehicles are clearing the roadway.

Car vs embankment on Mountain Ranch Road

   December 31, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  A car has reportedly hit the embankment on Mountain Ranch Road in San Andreas.

   December 31, 2015 at 5:10 AM: A box of debris has been reported on Hwy 49 at the Stevenot Bridge at New Melones.

Kenneth Dale Baker of Vallecito

   Kenneth Dale Baker of Vallecito, passed into Glory after a short illness on December 27, 2015.

    Kenny was born in Long Beach on January 10, 1963 to Dwight 'Ed' and Mary Kesterson Baker.

Angels Camp City Council to elect new Mayor and pass Tree Police Law--POT laws

   On Tuesday January 5, 2015 at 6 PM the Angels Camp City Council will meet at the Firehouse to elect a new Mayor and Vice-Mayor and to pass the new Tree Police law against residents. They are also passing a new law against POT in Angels Camp.

   They will also appoint 2 people to the Angels Camp Museum committee and approve giving Anne Forrest more money for her Commemorative Committee.

People in lawn chairs on Hwy 108

   December 30, 2015 at 4 PM:  CHP was notified that there are people illegally parked on Hwy 108 at Long Barn and people actually sitting in lawn chairs on the roadway.

   Be extra cautious if headed in that direction.

Crash on Hwy 4 at Tamarack

   December 30, 2015 at 3:40 PM: A crash has been reported on Hwy 4 at Tamarack in Ebbetts Pass.

   No injuries have been indicated, but use extra caution if headed that way. Two tow trucks will be required.

Burglaries: Vehicles and Houseboat

   On December 29, 2015 burglaries were reported to vehicles on Black Creek Drive in Copperopolis, and to a houseboat on Whittle Road in Angels Camp.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took reports on the incidents.

Burglary in San Andreas

   On December 29, 2015 around 5 AM a burglary in progress was reported on Mariposa Street in San Andreas.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report, but apparently did  not catch the burglar, since absolutely NO BOOKINGS were reported on December 29.

Aretha Franklin made the President cry

   Last night the Kennedy Center show from December 6, 2015 was aired on PBS. When Aretha Franklin sang "You Make me Feel Like a Natural Woman", she also played her own piano accompaniment.

   It was an amazing performance, and camera shots of the audience reaction were priceless; including President Obama wiping away a tear. Check it out on Youtube.

The Marijuana Initiative for 2016

   In spite of Mr. Big Pot and his friends in the booze industry, it looks like the National Organization for Reform of Marijuana laws will have an initiative on the 2016 ballot to legalize its use for adults.

   This initiative will: Allow adults 21 years and old to possess up to 1 ounce of marijuana; Cultivate 6 plants for personal use; Regulate and TAX the marijuana industry, growers and sellers; and Rewrite criminal penalties for past marijuana offenses to misdemeanors or less.

Vehicle rollover in Tuolumne

   December 30, 2015 at 11:40 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Tuolumne Road in Tuolumne.

   CHP and other emergency personnel are en route to the scene. Traffic control is being led by fire department. The roadway is partially blocked, so be cautious if headed in that direction.

Dupont and Dow merging

   The two chemical giants are now merging into one. As a result, Dupont is cutting 1700 jobs just in the state of Delaware.

   Dow and Dupont will merge into one. Dupont sent letter out to its employees regarding the cutting of aruond 10% of its workforce as a result of the merger.

New Casino in Galt?

   It was announced late yesterday that a new Casino is being built in Galt by the 700 member Wilton Rancheria tribe.

   There will be a 12 story hotel, as well as a gambling casino and restaurants on the 282 acres site.

  

Lots of complaints about unplowed roadways

   In the past few days we have  heard many, many complaints about the roadways being either not plowed enough or improperly plowed in the snow country of Ebbetts Pass.

   Apparently lots of calls have gone into the Supervisor Oliveira phone message service and have not even been answered.  Where is the Supervisor? Oh, in Danville, where he really lives??

78 year old Bill Cosby charged with sexual assault

   The District Attorney in Philadelphia has announced this morning that actor Bill Cosby, who is now 78 years old, is now being charged with one count of sexual assault, a felony.

   This alleged assault apparently occurred nearly 12 years ago, which is the legal time limit for charging this crime in Pennsylvania.

Snow pack over 100% of normal

   After many years of drought and very little snow, yesterdays measurement of the Sierra snowpack and the water content of the snow was very good.

   According to officials, the water content of the snow is now around 115% of normal.  Now if it will just keep snowing!

Where was Mr. Big Pot??

   The interesting missing "vicious" element from the study session December 22, 2015 on growing marijuana in Calaveras County was Mr. Big Pot!

   In fact, one person told us he got up and walked out mad because his Supervisor, along with the others,  approved most everything the growers wanted. After all, this is a "RIGHT TO FARM" county, right?

Three animal hazards reported in Calaveras County

  December 29, 2015 at 8:15 AM:  Three different animal hazards have been reported in Calaveras County in the last half hour;  Cows at Parrotts Ferry Road and Hwy 4 in Vallecito, and unidentified animals at Littlejohn and Flint Trail in Copper and at Basket and Bow in Copper.

   Be cautious in those areas until CHP can clear the roadway. Animal owners need to carefully maintain their fences. One horse was killed this morning and three people injured when a horse escaped and was hit by a small car in Citrus Heights.

Black pickup rolls into ravine in Crows Landing

   December 29, 2015 at 6:50 AM:  A black pickup truck reportedly rolled off Crows Landing Road into a ravine near Carpenter Road in Crows Landing after a collision with a Subaru.

If you snowmobile in the backcountry...

   ...you had better go prepared.

    Two men from the Diamond Springs area went snowmobiling in a remote area of Ebbetts Pass and when one of their snowmobiles became stuck, became stranded.

   After a night in the cold, they were rescued when their walkie-talkies were tracked by authorities.  They were lucky!

Car runs off road in Plymouth

Burglary Arrest in San Andreas

   On December 26, 2015 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Brandon Leslie Earl (28) of San Andreas at the Calaveras County Jail.

   Earl was booked into the Jail for alleged 2nd Degree burglary and Receiving Stolen Property over $950, both felonies, and for Possession of a Controlled Substance and being under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, both misdemeanors.

Car vs deer on Hwy 12

   December 28, 2015 at 1 PM:  A car hit a deer on Hwy 12 and Double Springs Road and ran off the roadway.

   The injured deer is now on the shoulder. CHP is en route to the scene. Use extra caution if headed that way.

Traffic collision in Columbia

   December 28, 2015 at 10:30 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Sawmill Flat Road and Parrotts Ferry Road in Columbia.

   A white Toyota and a utility van of some type collided. CHP and an ambulance are en route to the location. Use extra caution if in the area.

Angels Camp woman arrested

   On December 25, 2015 Sara Susan Kenny (31) of Angels Camp was arrested by Angels Camp Police at her residence on Clifton Lane.

    Kenny was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Infliction of Corporal Injury on a Spouse, a felony.

Jackie Linebaugh of Arnold

   Jackie Linebaugh, a 39 year resident of Arnold, passed away on December 18, 2015.   She was born August 13, 2959 in Sonora.

Two collisions on Hwy 88

   December 28, 2015 at 9:15 AM:  CHP are working two traffic collisions on Hwy 88; one at Salt Springs Road and one at Ham's Station.

   December 28, 2015 at 8:30 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Obyrnes Ferry Road and Old Obyrnes Ferry Road near the Tulloch Bridge.

Angels Camp creates Greenhorn Creek Tree Police

   At the last Angels Camp City Council meeting, these 5 paranoids actually planned to start policing trees and bushes in Greenhorn Creek.  Do you now realize the insanity of this City Council?

   Mayor Wes Kulm has offered to be the "chief of tree police, and will patrol Greenhorn, looking for those criminal violators.  You are not allowed to let a leaf fall, have a branch that blocks city light, or anything on THEIR sidewalks or streets.

Four Vehicles slide on ice in Avery

   December 27, 2015 at 11:30 AM:  A car has reportedly left Moran Road near Love Creek Road and hit a tree and many other have been sliding on the ice in that location.

Fire in Ventura County

  December 27, 2015:  The Solimar  Fire in Ventura County yesterday, caused the complete shut down of both the 101 freeway and Hwy 1 in the area.

    It is now listed at 1236 acres with 60% containment.

  According to the National Weather service, Calaveras County will be getting yet another rain and snow storm Sunday night, December 27, 2015.

   They even warn that snow could come as low as 1500' during the night or early Monday morning.

Hit and run on Hwy 4

   December 26, 2015 at 3:15 PM:  A driver reported to CHP that a car hit the side of their car and left the scene at Hwy 4 and Darby Russell Road near the Red Apple.

Motorcycle down in Lodi

   December 26, 2015 at 2:45 PM:  A motorcycle is down on Hwy 99 and Hwy 12 in Lodi, after colliding with anther vehicle.

Tourists sledding in roadway

   December 26, 2015 at 2:10 PM:   CHP has been dispatched to Mi-Wuk Village at Chief Fuller Drive and Pela Road, where people are sledding in the roadway.

Vehicles blocking Hwy 4 in Arnold

   December 26, 2015 at 2 PM:  10 to 15 cars have been reported partially pulled over to play in the snow on Hwy 4 at Arnold Byway in Arnold.

   CHP has been notified to try and clear them off the roadway.  Be extra careful if headed in that direction.

Illegal shooting reported in Calaveras County

    On December 24, 2015 illegal shooting was reported on Burson Road in Burson, on Chile Camp Road in Campo Seco, on Golden West Court in Valley Springs and on Augusta Court in Valley Springs.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took no report of the incidents.

Burglary in San Andreas

   On December 24, 2015 a burglary was reported on Gold Court in San Andreas with items missing.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took no report, possibly due to them filing an online report.

Red Apple Snow Park open?

   We just drove by the Red Apple on Hwy 4 and there is a line of cars parked along the side of the roadway, so drive carefully through that area.

   Children (and parents) are dragging their sleds up the slight incline and sliding down between the apple trees.  Apparently management and owners have ok'd this activity.

   December 26, 2015 at 11:15 AM:  A pickup has been reported over the bank off Hwy 88 at Silver Drive in Pioneer.

  December 25, 2015 at 2:15 PM:  CHP was called out due to multiple vehicles blocking Hwy 4 at the Red Apple to allow their children to play in the snow.

BBQ on Hwy 108

   December 24, 2015 at 12:30 PM:   In addition to the spin outs and other traffic hazards on Hwy 108 in the Twain Harte area, there has been another report.

   Apparently one caller told CHP that there are people setting up and BBQing right on the roadway in that location. 

Governor Brown pardons Robert Downey Jr.

   A total of 91 people in California received full pardons from Governor Brown today.

   Included in that list was Robert Downey Jr. who spent time behind bars for drug offenses in the late 1980's.

Car runs into barbwire fence in Rancho Calaveras

  December 24, 2015 at 11:55 AM:  A car ran off Hwy 26 and into a barbed wire fence near Wimer Road near Rancho Calaveras.

   The car is apparently all wrapped up in the barbed wire at this time. Use caution if in that area.

Illegal shooting complaint in Burson

   On December 23, 2015 a resident on Flint Street in Milton called the Calaveras Sheriff's Office to report that someone was driving around honking and shooting a gun in the area.

   The Sheriff took no report of the incident.

Brown Horse loose in Rancho Calaveras

   December 24, 2015 at 3:20 PM:  A brown horse has been reported loose at garner Place and Baldwin Street in Rancho Calaveras.

Collision in Copperopolis

   December 24, 2015 at 2:10 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Obyrnes Ferry Road and Copper Cove Drive in Copperopolis.

Head injury in Acampo crash

   September 24, 2015 at 2:15 PM:  A traffic collision on Hwy 99 at Acampo Drive in Acampo has resulted in a head injury for one.

   December 24, 2015 at 2:05 PM:  A tree is reportedly down on Hwy 26 at Lone Dove Lane in Glencoe.

Big rig runs off Hwy 4

   December 24, 2015 at 2 PM:  A big rig has run off Hwy 4 near Upper Moran Road in Arnold.

   A big rig tow truck is needed as it is partially blocking the roadway. A separate incident was also reported just above this one apparently.  CHP is en route to the scene.

   The Planned Parenthood terrorist will get a mental evaluation after telling the judge he wants to represent himself in court.

Forecast for tonight

   We just received the National Weather Bureau forecast for Calaveras County that says the snow level may reach 2000' and then 1000' after midnight tonight.

    More snow is expected at higher elevations and could reach as much as 9 more inches. Wow!

CHP: Same vehicle stuck for 2nd time today

   December 24, 2015 at 12:45 PM:  CHP received another call from the same vehicle they had just towed out of the snow earlier on Hwy 88 at Peddlar Hill.

Car crashes into pole in ice

   December 24, 2015 at 10:40 AM:  A car skidded in the ice and ran into a pole on Hwy 26 about 4 miles from Hwy 12, outside Toyon.

   No injuries were indicated, PG&E has been notified. Use extra caution as many of the foothill roads are icy right now.

Ebbetts Pass getting heavy snow

      December 24, 2015 at 9:30 AM:  Snow is falling heavily in Ebbetts Pass. Stay home if possible. The upper grade road above Murphys is messy.

   As usual, there are visitors from down below who don't know how to drive in the snow and they are having the usual problems on the roads.

   December 24, 2015 at 5:45 AM:  CHP is at Clements Road and Comstock Road in the Linden area with a large steer who escaped.

   Be extra cautious if headed in that direction until they can round it up and put it back in its pasture.

   Already named "Cinnamon", this one year old black bear was scooped up in a garbage truck and taken around 75 miles before escaping in the Fresno area at a dump.

   Fish and Wildlife personnel tranquilized and took "Cinnamon" back to the Sierra National Forest in time for Christmas.

Tree and power lines down in Groveland

   December 24, 2015 at 5 AM:  CHP reports that a tree came down on power lines and the roadway at Feretti Road and Boitano Road in the Groveland area.

   Drive with extra caution in that area until PG&E can clear the roadway.

Merry Christmas from the NHL!

   As all true NHL fans know, a good fight can make the game. Last night a fist fight broke out on the ice and one of the announcers began singing "We Wish You a Merry Christmas".

Chain control in Murphys

   December 24, 2015 at 4:45 AM:  Caltrans has just issued a chain control in Murphys for Hwy 4.

   It is snowing, although at this time it mainly ground cover.  Be cautious if you have to go out on the roadways

Big Rig Jack-knife's in Salida

   December 24, 2015:  Around 3 AM a 63' big rig jack-knifed and hit a fence at Hwy 99 and Hammett Road in Salida.

   No injuries were indicated, and a big rig tow was called as the truck was down in a ditch beside the freeway.

Ovations 2016 begins with Mountain Melody

  On Sunday January 10, 2016 the first Ovations Concerts for 2016 will be held at Bret Harte's Theater in Angels Camp.

   Mountain Melody Women's Chorus will perform at this first concert. The doors open at 2 PM and the program begins at 3 PM.

Overturned vehicle on Hwy 88

   December 23, 2015 at 10:30 AM:  An overturned vehicle that hit an embankment has been reported on Hwy 88 at Ham's Station in El Dorado County.

Three car collision in Riverbank

   December 23, 2015 at 9:35 AM:  A three car collision has been reported at Oakdale Road and Claribel Road in Riverbank.

   A Ford, a Toyota and a Mercedez were involved, but fortunately no injuries have been indicated. Tow trucks are en route as the roadway is blocked.

Big Rig Driver locks himself in after collision!

   December 23, 2015 at 8:15 AM:  After a collision at Hansen and Schulte in the Tracy area, a big rig driver locked himself in his truck and told the CHP he was waiting for his supervisor.

   A big rig tow is now en route to the scene. This was a freight hauler, but Safeway trucks were also blocking the roadway at that location. CHP had their hands full.

Traffic Collision on Hwy 108

   December 23, 2015 at 8:25 AM:  CHP just arrived at the scene of a Toyota pickup and Chevy Suburban collision at Hwy 108 and Jenness Drive in the Cold Springs area.

   No injuries have been indicated. A tow truck is en route to the site. Use extra caution if headed in that direction.

Don't tell the DAPS!!

   Please don't anyone tell the Dead Animal Photo Shooter or the Troll, but there has been a dead deer reported on Ridge Road and New York Ranch Road, not far from Jackson Rancheria.

   Drive extra carefully in that area until CHP can remove it from the roadway. And get DEER WARNING WHISTLES!  They work!

Chains required on Hwy 4 -- White Christmas

   December 23, 2015:  As of around 4:15 AM Caltrans is requiring chains on all vehicles without 4 wheel drive east of Cottage Springs on Hwy 4.

   Be prepared for low snow on Christmas Eve morning, as the National Weather Service says it could reach 2500'.  Beautiful White Christmas if you can stay off the roadways.

Injured sheep on Hwy 99

   December 23, 2015:  Around 2:15 AM CHP received a report of a herd of sheep on Hwy 99 at Hwy 120 in Manteca.

    Some, including lambs, were apparently injured by vehicles.  Animal control was dispatched to the area to assist.

LAFCo cancels December meeting

   The Calaveras LAFCo  cancelled it's December 21, 2015 meeting. They have been discussing the extremely controversial Calaveras Resource Conservation District.

   Their next meeting will be held on January 25, 2016 at 6 PM in the Calaveras Supervisors Chamber in San Andreas.

Ceres deals with street gang murder

   The small town of Ceres has arrested two and issued warrants for several others in the murder of a man outside a bar in Ceres last week.

   It is alleged that this is part of a large street gang. Several of the suspects are believed to have fled the area.

No chains required on Hwy 4

  December 22, 2015 at 3:30 PM:  Caltrans has removed the chains required notice for Hwy 4. It is raining now at higher elevations on Hwy 4.

   Be advised that you must carry chains and be prepared for a change in the weather, though.

Large boulders on Hwy 120

   December 22, 2015 at 3:15 PM:  5' to 6' boulders have been reported on Hwy 120 at New Priest Grade in Jamestown.

   CHP is en route. Be extra cautious until they can get them removed.

Motorcycle vs car in Lodi

   December 22, 2015 at 12:45 PM:  A car and a motorcycle collided on Lower Sacramento Road and East Augusta in the Lodi area.

   December 22, 2015 at 12:15 PM:  A blue car has been reported upside down in a gully off Parrotts Ferry Road and Porcina Way in Columbia.

Boulder on Mono Way in Sonora

   December 22, 2015 at 11:15 AM:  A boulder has been reported on Mono Way near Hwy 108 in Sonora.

Flooding on Hwy 4

   December 22, 2015 at 8:10 AM:  Flooding has been reported on Hwy 4 below Copperopolis, especially at Milton Road.

   Drive carefully as there are some low points on Hwy 4 and there could be other places of flooding.

New VA Medical Clinic coming to French Camp

   Good news for veterans in Calaveras, Tuolumne and surrounding counties!  Congressman Jerry McNerny announced that a new medical clinic is being built in French Camp.

   Construction will begin in 2017. The clinic will serve veterans from rural areas that currently have to travel a long way for medical services.

Too much snow at Kirkwood???

   December 22, 2015 at 5 AM:  Caltrans has issued a warning that Kirkwood Ski Resort may not be able to open today.  Be patient if headed that way!

   The reason?  Believe it or not, they have received so much snow that access to the resort is taking extra time to clear!  They are working on the roadway right now!

Large boulder struck near Yosemite

   December 22, 2015 at 4:55 AM:  A vehicle has reportedly struck a large boulder that rolled onto Hwy 41 near Yosemite National Park.

   CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries have been indicated. Be cautious driving this morning, as mud and rock slides have been reported in many areas.

   On Hwy 26 and Woodhouse Mine Road in West Point, on Obyrnes Ferry Road and Duchess Drive in Copperopolis and at Hwy 4 and Telegraph in Copperopolis, mud, rocks and debris are reportedly across the roadways.

Multiple vehicles stuck on Hwy 88

   December 21, 2015 at 2:55 PM:  CHP has had reports of multiple vehicles stuck in the snow on Hwy 88 near Carson Pass.

   The pass is now closed, but its going to take several heavy tow trucks to pull all those already stuck, partly due to an avalanche.

Roadway flooding in Copperopolis

   December 21, 2015 at 1:10 PM:  Calaveras County roads has been dispatched to Milton Road and Duncan Road in the Copperopolis area.

   Per CHP, the roadway is flooded at that location.

Hazard on Hwy 4

   CHP is at the scene of a traffic hazard involving three people or vehicles on Hwy 4 in Tamarack.

   Be extra cautious if headed in that direction until CHP can clear the roadway.

Overturned vehicle in Rancho Calaveras--Gravel spilled

   UPDATE:  A Caltrans sweeper has been called out to help clean up a large amount of gravel spilled on Hwy 26.

Governor Brown moves back home

   Governor Brown and his wife and two Corgies have moved back into the Governors mansion where he basically grew up.

   The beautiful old historic home was remodeled and rewired.

Caltrans closes Hwy 88--Avalanche

   Per Caltrans Hwy 88 is now closed over Carson Spur for avalanche control due to heavy snow overnight resulting in a 14' avalanche across the lanes.

   Only Hwy 50 or 80 are now available to reach the Lake Tahoe area, and you must be prepared for heavy snow over the passes.

Calaveras Sheriff's Office: Flash Flood Warning

    December 21, 2015:  The Calaveras Sheriff's Office has issued a notice that the National Weather Service is warning of possible flash floods in the Butte Fire burn area through Tuesday afternoon, December 22, 2015.

   Anyone traveling in the Butte Fire area should be alert that rainfall could be 3 to 6 inches and road problems due to flooding are probably, with rock and debris flows.

Traffic Collision in Sonora

   December 21, 2015 at 11:10 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 108 and Lime Kiln Road in Sonora.

   An ambulance and tow truck are en route to the scene. Use extra caution if in the area.

Speed may have caused Hwy 49 death

   Early Sunday morning, CHP reports that Robert Kuehn, of  Shingle Springs, sideswiped one car and then crashed head-on into another car on Hwy 49 near Latrobe Road in El Dorado County.

   It isn't clear exactly what caused the crash, but apparently Kuehn, who crossed the double yellow line, was pronounced dead at the scene.

LIndsay Graham drops out

   Republican Presidential candidate from South Carolina, Lindsay Graham has dropped out of the 2016 race.

   In his statement, he said "They ran a campaign they can be proud of."

Six American Servicemen killed in Afghanistan

   A suicide bomber on a motorcycle killed 6 American Servicemen in Afghanistan earlier today.

   Several others were wounded in the attack.

Burglary in Copperopolis

   On December 19, 2015  a burglary were reported to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office by a resident on Charm Stone Way in Copperopolis.

    No other details were provided.

  

"Star Wars" wins at Box Office

   The newest "Star Wars" movie has made $238 million in its first weekend, breaking all box office records.

   "Jurassic World" had held the title, with $208 million. Both are Disney productions.

Mountain Ranch man arrested

   On December 19, 2015 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Stuart Bernard Claus (51) of Mountain Ranch at his residence on Live Oak around 11:10 PM.

   Claus was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Inflicting Corporal Injury on a Spouse, a felony.

   The 49ers play the Bengals in Levi Stadium at 1:25 PM today on CBS.

LaMonte Rudolph Fuller arrested for alleged felony Corporal Injury

   On December 18, 2015 around 10:30 PM Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested LaMonte Rudolph Fuller (64) at his residence on Murphys Grade Road in Murphys.

   Fuller was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged 273.5 A, Infliction of Corporal Injury on a Spouse or co-habitant, a Felony, and was then released on bond.

Traffic collision in Lockeford

   December 19, 2015 at 11:30 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Jack Tone Road and Brandt Road in Lockeford.

  CHP is at the scene. A white Chevy SUV ran off the road into a ditch. One person has minor injuries. A tow truck is en route to that location.

Illegal shooting or explosions in Copperopolis

   On December 17, 2015 several reports of gun shots or explosions were reported in the area of Feather Drive and Morado Circle in Copperopolis between 7:10 and 7:20 PM.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took no report of the incidents.

Burglaries in Calaveras County

   On December 17, 2015 burglaries were reported to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office by:

   A resident on Topanga Lane in Dorrington, by a resident on Arrowhead Street in Copperopolis and by a storage unit business in Copperopolis on Copper Cove Drive where a trailer had been broken into.

Amador County Supervisors meet

   On December 22, 2015 the Amador Supervisors will hold a meeting at 8 AM on Court Street in Jackson.

   They have several items in Closed Session. On the Regular Agenda, which begins at 9 AM, is approval of funding for the Amador County Parks and Recreation Master Plan and Nexus.

PG&E Scam in Arnold

   We spoke to a business owner in Arnold who said that they have received numerous calls now from someone claiming to be PG&E, saying they owe money.

   The caller gives another number to call and pay or says their power will be cut in the next hour.  PG&E says this is a new common SCAM.  Be careful! Check anything out before giving financial information.

Traffic collision in Glencoe

   December 17, 2015 at 10:25 AM:  CHP is en route to a reported traffic collision that is blocking Hwy 26 at Three Cent Flat Road in Glencoe.

   Driver has refused an ambulance although he may have a broken arm.  A tow truck is stuck in traffic attempting to reach the scene.

   Janice Simpson of Angels Camp passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday December 5, 2015. She was 63.

CCWD Special meeting today

   On Thursday December 17, 2015 Calaveras County Water District is holding a Special Meeting to discuss the budget for the Jenny Lind Water Treatment Plant facilities.

Hwy 49 blocked due to Jumper

   December 16, 2015 at 1 PM:  CHP has blocked off parts of Hwy 49 after reports of an elderly male on the edge of the Williamsell Bridge outside of Mariposa identified by them as a "Jumper".

   Emergency vehicles are en route to the scene. Avoid the area if possible.
