Get a new Apple product for Christmas?

   The Sierra MacIntosh Users Group (SMUG) is having a meeting on Tuesday January 12, 2016 from 2 to 4 PM at the Murphys Library.

   The public is invited to attend. Paul Keeton will offer advice and answer questions for those who received a new Apple product in their Christmas stocking.

Armed militia men take over Federal Wildlife Building

  Led by Ammon Bundy, son of the racist Cliven Bundy of Nevada, have taken over a Federal Wildlife Building in Oregon with an armed militia.

   They are reportedly protesting imprisonment of two men who were convicted of arson of federal lands. The imprisoned men's attorney has denied involvement with this group.

Hyundai runs over sign on Hwy 88

   January 3, 2016 at 11:30 AM:  A black Hyundai has run off Hwy 88 and Shake Ridge Road and taken out a sign.  They are now stuck in a snow bank.

   CHP and a tow truck are en route to the scene. Use extra caution if in the area.

Big rig vs Chevy Tahoe on Hwy 120

   January 3, 2016 at 9:30 AM:  A big rig and a Chevy Tahoe collided at Hwy 120 and Hwy 99 in Manteca.

   It was reported that the two drivers were arguing alongside the roadway. CHP is en route to the scene.

Traffic collision in Martell

   January 3, 2016 at 8:30 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 49 and Hwy 88 in Martell.

   CHP and an ambulance are en route to the scene. Be extra cautious in that area.

Firearms, Fireworks on New Years Eve

   Both firearms and fireworks were reported in Calaveras County on New Years Eve or near midnight on January 1, 2016.

    In Valley Springs, Burson, Mokelumne Hill and Copperopolis both were reported. No report was taken by the Sheriff on these incidents.

49ers play Rams today

   On January 3, 2016 the 49ers welcome the Rams to Levi Stadium for a 1:25 PM game.

   CBS will broadcast the game.

West Point woman arrested

   On January 1, 2016 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Theresa Marie Garner (28) of West Point at her home on Main Street.

   Garner was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Infliction of Corporal Injury and False Imprisonment, both felonies and for Obstructing or Resisting a Peace Office, a misdemeanor.
