Tree falling on Independence Road

  January 6, 2016 at 10 AM:  A tree is reportedly now leaning on another tree branch and is about to fall on Independence Road near Deardorff in the Glencoe area.

   CHP is en route to the scene. Be cautious if in that area.

Pot legalization can bring in $2 Billion to state

   The State of California has released information that the legalization of pot for recreational use next year could bring the state over $2 billion in taxes.

   Just think what it will do for Calaveras County, who has been and continues to be strapped for money.   Mr. Big Pot, take your booze and get lost!!

Traffic collision in Pioneer

   January 6, 2016 at 8 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Buckhorn Ridge Road in Pioneer.

   No injuries have been indicated. CHP is en route to the scene.

Kobe Bryant food poisoning reminder

  Kobe Bryant, who is retiring after this NBA season, returns to Sacramento tonite to play the Kings.

   Many are reminded of the alleged intentional food poisoning over 10 years ago at a Sacramento hotel. Does he still hold a grudge?

Chain control on Hwy 4, Hwy 108, Hwy 88

   January 7, 2016 at 4:30 AM:  Chain control is set up above Murphys this morning on Hwy 4, above Pine Grove on Hwy 88 and 6 miles above Sonora on Hwy 108.

    Drive carefully, and be sure to carry chains if headed for the mountains today.

Watch for mudslides

    January 7, 2016 at 4:30 AM:  Watch for mud and rock slides on the Murphys Grade Road this morning.

   One slide has been reported near French Gulch Road just outside Murphys.  County road crews have been dispatched to the area, but it may be awhile before its cleared.
