Loss of Control causes Hwy 4 crash

Music in the Parks 2016

   On Wednesday June 15, 2016 is the first of the free Music in the Parks concerts in Calaveras County.

    The Rockslide Band performs in Copperopolis for the first of the Calaveras Arts Council Series.  We don't know the time yet.

Arrest in Wallace

   On March 7, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff arrested Shane Andrew Bilbrey (24) of Valley Springs at the Wallace Chevron in Wallace.

   Bilbrey was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Inflicting Injury on a Child and Willful Cruelty to a Child, both felonies.

Dr. Dale "Doc" Paar of Wilseyville

      Dr. Dale Miller Paar, more commonly known as Doc, was born August 20, 1952 in Springfield, Missouri.

Clear-cutting and Edsons watershed removal worsens drought?

   We read a study done by the Department of Agriculture that shows removal of trees and shrubs in a watershed area using Calaveras County Supervisor Edson's RCD or CalFire destructive policies, only worsens drought conditions.

   It reports that although it may create massive runoff for southern California, in the long run removal of watershed (what they call watershed management) will decimate our forests even more quickly than normal global warming.

Three car collision on Hwy 99

   March 8, 2016 at 8:20 AM:  A three car collision has been reported at Hwy 99 southbound at the Kansas Avenue offramp in Modesto.

   Tow trucks have been expedited due to the roadway being blocked. Be extra cautious if in that area.

Pickup runs off Milton Road

   March 8, 2016 at 8:10 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a reported white pickup that ran off Milton Road in Jenny Lind.

   No injuries have been indicated. be cautious if headed that way.

ACE commuter train derails

   March 8, 2016 at 6 AM:  The ACE commute train derailed last night and will not be running today due to clean up and investigation.

   So if you take the train over the Altamont, you will be driving today. Traffic will be heavy as a result.

Inventor of 'email' dies

  Ray Tomlinson is not a well-known name, but his invention changed the way the world communicates.

   Tomlinson died yesterday at the age of 74.  He invented and sent the first email message in 1971, using the @ symbol for identification.
