Large Oak tree falls in Groveland

   March 11, 2016 at 7 PM:  A large oak tree has fallen on Ferretti Road and Rocky Point Drive in the Groveland area.

   Crews have been dispatched to remove the tree. Use caution in the area until it is cleared.

Gabby and Manny adopted

   Two kitties were adopted yesterday at the Calaveras Animal Shelter.

   Both Gabby and Manny were adopted by Steve Wilensky, former Supervisor, to be indoor outdoor cats on his ranch.

Cars putting chains on blocking Hwy 120 in Groveland

   March 11, 2016 at 4:20 PM:  Several cars have been reported blocking part of Hwy 120 at Golden Arrow in Groveland to put their chains on.

    CHP is en route to the area, but be cautious if headed that way.

Overturned vehicle at Red Apple in light snow

   UPDATE:  No CHP have arrived at the scene, but Ebbetts Pass Fire and a tow truck are assisting.

Two cars spin out in Arnold

   March 11, 2016 at 3:15 PM:  Two vehicles have spun out off Moran Road in Arnold.

   CHP is en route to the scene. The roads are slick due to a rain snow mix. Drive carefully. A tree is down in the area, blocking one lane.

Car stuck in ditch in Burson

   March 11, 2016 at 3:10 PM:   A vehicle has run off Burson Road near Sheri Place in Burson and is stuck in a ditch.

   The driver says he's going home to get his tractor and pull it out. CHP is at the scene.

Cal Fire in a 'Kindness Zone'

   Cal Fire has announced that they are providing an exemption on the FIRE TAX to those who's homes were destroyed by fire this past year.

   How totally generous of them!  No home, nothing but ash on their land!  Cal Fire must be in a "Kindness Zone"!  Are they kidding??

Three vehicle collision at Hwy 4 and Hwy 99

   March 11, 2016 at 12:15 PM:  A three vehicle traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 4 and Hwy 99 in Stockton.

   A yellow pickup, a white BMW and a Toyota are all pulled off the roadway. No injuries have been indicated, but be careful if in that area.

  

Burglary in Mountain Ranch

   On March 10, 2016 a burglary was reported by a resident on Worden Road in Mountain Ranch.

   The resident gave a report of items taken. The Calaveras Sheriff took no report.

San Andreas man arrested at Hogan

   On March 10, 2016 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Daniel Lloyd Steinhoff (24) of San Andreas on Hogan Dam Road in Valley Springs.

    Steinhoff was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon not a firearm, Threatening a Crime with the Intent to Terrorize and Infliction of Corporal Injury on a Spouse, all felonies and for Exhibiting a Deadly Weapon, not a firearm, a misdemeanor.

Felon arrested in Glencoe

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office on March 10, 2016 they arrested Michael Ray Miller (60) of Glencoe at his residence.

    Miller was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Possessing a Firearms as a Felon or Addict, Possessing prohibited Ammunition, both felonies and for an outstanding warrant for allegedly bringing Alcohol or drugs into prison, a felony.

Frankly, we are shocked!!! Time to RECALL Calaveras Oliveira!!

   As most of you know, we have been receiving death threats and other threats against women by apparent campaign members of  Calaveras Supervisor District 3 Oliveira, nothing that will be published.

   Frankly, we are shocked at how at least two men and maybe one woman also, share their sexual filth about their desires for Supervisor Oliveira!  It is time he was recalled, if for no other reason than the sexual filth and threats he and his campaign committee appear to spew!!

CCWD board refuses to lower RATES

   After campaigning on one issue, high rates at CCWD (Calaveras County Water District) directors are REFUSING to lower rates AT ALL!!

   In fact all they are doing is planning

No apology or excuse changes Calaveras Planning Commissioner Woosters views!!

   It has been stated that Mr. Kelly Wooster's racist comment regarding Mexicans at the last Calaveras Planning Commission meeting were apologized for and explained.

   First of all, the Sierra Sentinel never received any such statement. Secondly, no apology or excuse can make what he said ok or make his personal views about the Mexican peoople acceptable. He needs to resign.

Mercedes crashes in Lodi

   March 11, 2016 at 8:50 AM:  A Mercedes reportedly lost control at Hwy 99 and Hwy 12 in Lodi and went off the roadway, down an embankment and into a ditch.

  CHP and an ambulance are responding to the scene. Watch for emergency vehicles if in that area.

JUMPER reported on Hwy 99

   March 11, 2016 at 8:45 AM:  A jumper has been reported on Whitmore Avenue overpass at Hwy 99 in Ceres.

   CHP is en route to the scene. Be cautious if headed that way.

Car vs deer on Hwy 49--No deer whistles??

   March 11, 2016 at 8:30 AM:  A car has hit a deer at Hwy 49 and Mountain Brow Road in Sonora.

   CHP is en route to the scene. It isn't known if the deer is still alive. Put deer warning whistles on your front bumper for around $10. They really work to help keep you and the poor deer safer.

Tree down on Hwy 99

   March 11, 2016 at 6:50 AM:  A tree is reportedly down on Hwy 99 at the Cherokee Lane offramp in Lodi.

   Be extra cautious if headed in that direction.

So proud of President Obama

   I don't know about you, but yesterday President Obama gave a press conference during which a right wing reporter actually asked if he felt he was partially to blame for the Trump phenomena.

   After 8 years of listening to this racist ranting of the right and Republicans, he kept his cool and answered, as he always does, calmly and coolly.  President Obama makes you feel proud you voted for him.
