   We emailed Calaveras Supervisor Cliff Edson requesting his Birth Certificate and he appears to be hiding it from the public. Not very religious of you, is it?

   He claimed, on video, that he is actually Hispanic and we've asked him to prove it! He always says he wants to be transparent, so WHERE is your Birth Certificate,
Supervisor Edson???

   This baby Hummingbird apparently fell out of its nest. A Sacramento fireman took it in and is nursing it even though its not much bigger than his thumb.

Burglary in Murphys

   On March 30, 2016 a resident on French Gulch Road reported a burglary to the Calaveras Sheriff.

      The Sheriff's Office took a report.

Vandalism in Dorrington

   On March 30, 2016 a resident on Wakami Way in Dorrington reported that their home had been vandalized, sprayed with paint.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report of the incident.

CHP warning: Hwy 108 shooter??

   CHP has received some calls regarding a person throwing objects or possible shooting a pellet or bb gun at vehicles on Hwy 108.

   This has been in the area between Phoenix Lake/Hess Avenue and the Peaceful Oak offramp between the hours of 3 PM and 5 PM over the past couple of weeks. If you've seen anything suspicious call 209-984-3944.

Motorhome fire in Twain Harte

   March 31, 2016 at 9 AM:  A motorhome has been reported on fire and still moving at Tiffeni Drive and Twain Harte Drive in Twain Harte.

   CalFire and CHP have been notified. It was last reported turning onto Tiffeni Drive, near the Twain Harte Market. Be extra cautious if headed that way.

Does Calaveras Supervisor Oliveira get his hair dyed at Kuntz beauty salon??

   Everyone knows that Sheriff Kuntz went to a beauty shop and got his hair dyed regularly.

  At the March 29, 2016 Calaveras Supervisors meeting it was clear that Oliveira of District 3 was the only older man with dark black hair.  Does he use the same beautician as Kuntz did to try and look younger?

Semi backs into another semi and leaves

   March 31, 2016 at 8 AM:  A semi at the Flag City Chevron station in Lodi backed into another semi and then left the area.

   CHP has been notified of a hit and run. No injuries were indicated.

Overturned car in Lodi

   March 30, 2016 at 4:25 PM:  A Mustang and a van collided on Harney Lane and Beckman Road in Lodi, with one overturning in the roadway.

   Injuries were reportedly minor, but be cautious in that area as they clear the roadway.

James Leonard March

   James Leonard March was born on September 17, 1918 in Richmond. He was 97 years old when he passed away of a stroke

A baby was born in Calaveras County

  Calaveras County very seldom ever has a birth registered here, since we don't have a hospital for birth mothers. Most travel to Amador, Tuolumne or other counties to deliver their babies.

   However, we do have one to report.  Ember Love Banks was born on January 11, 2016 in Calaveras County.  Congratulations to her parents.

    On March 30, 2016  the California State Water Surveyors measured the snowpack in the Sierras.

   It came in 95% of normal.  Will this be enough to get the water limits lifted??

   We were just notified that the Angels Camp City Council meeting scheduled for April 5, 2016 has been cancelled.

   Per the City Clerk, there was a lack of agenda items needing attention.

Traffic collision in Sonora

   March 30, 2016 at 10:05 AM:  A car has collided with a vehicle pulling a trailer on Hwy 108 near Lime Kiln Road in Sonora.

   CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries have been indicated, but be cautious if in that area.

Ford van hits power pole in Lodi

   March 30, 2016 at 9:55 AM:  A tan Ford van has reportedly struck a power pole on Hwy 12 near Jack Tone Road in Lodi.

   A tow truck was dispatched to the scene. No injuries were indicated.

Log on Columbia road

   March 30, 2016 at 9:50 AM:  A large log has been reported on Italian Bar Road at Cemetery Lane in Columbia.

   Be extra cautious if headed that way until a crew can clear the roadway.

Suspicious person in Arnold NOT Supervisor Cliff Edson

   On March 29, 2016 a suspicious person was reported on Dunbar Road in Arnold.

   We were told that at least one person believed this was Calaveras Supervisor Cliff Edson, who is known to try and take over District 3.

   Later it was shown that indeed it could have been Supervisor Kearney, since he and Edson look so much alike.  We could not confirm this.

Arrest for Threatening Crime with Intent to Terrorize-Not in Supervisor Oliveira's D3??

   On March 29, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Michael Lee Keeney (42) of San Andreas at the San Andreas Apartments.

   Keeney was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Threatening a Crime with the Intent to Terrorize and for Vandalism, both felonies.  This wouldn't happen to racists in District 3. They are free to do what they want due to Supervisor Oliveira.

Traffic collision in Martell

   March 30, 2016 at 8:30 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 49 and Argonaut Road in Martell.

   CHP is attempting to clear the roadway. Be extra cautious. No injuries have been indicated in the crash.
   

PIckup hits tractor

   March 30, 2016 at 7:10 AM:  A pickup has reportedly collided with a tractor at Peltier Road and Davis Road in Lodi.

   The bridge is blocked and traffic is being turned around. One person is pinned in and is being extricated. An ambulance is responding. Avoid the area.

   Murphys Sanitary District is meeting tomorrow March 30, 2016 for a Special Meeting to replace the regular meeting.

   March 29, 2016 at 2:40 PM:  A four car collision has been reported on northbound  Hwy 99 and Hwy 219 in Salida.

   All vehicles are in the center divide. A tow truck is responding.

Computer group meets in Arnold

   The Sierra MacIntosh Users Group will meet at the Ebbetts Pass Fire Station on April 12, 2016.

   The meeting is open to the public and begins at 7 PM.

Where is Calaveras Supervisor Cliff Edson's Birth Certificate??

   We sent an email to Supervisor Cliff Edson, requesting a copy of his birth certificate, since he is attempting to gain another term and a full retirement from Calaveras taxpayers.

   We are attempting to verify his claim of being Hispanic.  Most everyone we've spoken to doubt his claim.  In fact, some say he was born in Africa and is not a citizen of the US.

UPDATE:  Turns out this game camera is one we have been told was put up by Eric Kleinfelter, well-known by us as a paid animal torturer and killer in California, working for the California Fish and Wildlife, as a favor for a jealous and alcoholic neighbor.

Patty Duke has died

 Actress Patty Duke, who won an Academy Award for her portrayal of Helen Keller in "Miracle Worker" has died according to her manager.  She was 69.

   She began acting at the age of 8 and once had her own show "The Patty Duke Show" where she played herself and an identical cousin on TV.

   The Republican National Convention will be held in Cleveland, Ohio this summer, without GUNS??

   Although Ohio has open carry laws, the GOP apparently fears violence at its upcoming nominating get-together and has banned all guns from the convention, against the NRA's policies.

   March 28, 2016 at 4 PM:  A car ran off Hwy 108 near Soulsbyville Road in Soulsbyville it was reported.

   Two CHP are en route to the scene. An ambulance is also responding.

Possible DUI traffic collision

   March 28, 2016 at 3:25 PM:   After a collision at Hatch Road and Jim Way in the Modesto area, CHP had to search for a vehicle that had left the scene.

   It was suggested that the driver may have been drinking. CHP located the vehicle and are attempting to identify the driver. A tow truck and ambulance responded to the scene.

Running red light caused collision??

Hit and Run in Copperopolis

   March 28, 2016 at 2:15PM:  A hit and run collision has been reported on Little John Road at Reeds Turnpike in Copperopolis.

  A witness got plate information and CHP is apparently going to Murphys to try and track it down. 

Batman VS. Superman tops box office

   Despite reviews that were not so good, the new Batman vs. Superman movie brought in the top box office draw over the Easter weekend.

   The total is around $170 million. Not so bad! In fact, it was the 6th best opening of all time.

   March 27, 2016 at 5:30 PM:  A car reportedly hit a golf cart at Hwy 26 and the entrance to La Contenta Golf Course in Valley Springs.

   No injuries have been indicated.

FOX upset over place cards at State of the Union lunch

   Shepard Smith of FOX showed the place card he received at the recent State of the Union lunch at the White House.

   It said Shepard Smith   FOX.  Apparently other networks employees were identified at ABC News, NBC News, etc.   Some say they were properly identified.

Reckless Driving leads to collision in Denair

   March 27, 2016 at 1:20 PM: A witness reported that a driver was reckless just before crashing off Santa Fe Avenue near Monte Vista in Denair.

   The car alleged left the road and hit a pool of water. There is debris on the roadway. CHP is en route to the scene. It isn't known if there are any injuries.

Large dog hit on I-5

   March 27, 2016 at 12:20 PM:  A large dog has been struck by a vehicle on I-5 near Hammer Lane in Stockton.

   The dog was hit so hard there are car parts strewn in the lane.  CHP is at the scene.

Turnout will determine Republican California primary winner

   Trump is leading in the California polls at this time, but whether he will take the primary vote in June is yet to be seen.

   How many actually turn out to vote could be a determining factor in this race. It is a closed primary and only Republican extreme conservatives tend to turn out for their primaries.

Generator stolen in Vallecito, fence pickets in Murphys

   On March 26, 2016 on Red Hill Road in Vallecito  it was reported that a generator had been stolen. The Calaveras Sheriff took a grand theft report.

   Also reported was pickets from a fence by a resident on Church Street in Murphys. The Calaveras Sheriff also took a report of this incident.

Bernie Sanders wins three more states

    Yesterday Bernie Sanders won the states of Hawaii, Washington State and Alaska.

   These were caucus states, not actual primaries. He won with at least 70% in each state.

Chevy Tahoe hits tree in Thornton--fatal

   UPDATE:  The man in this car died of his injuries.

Hit and Run collision in Railroad Flat

  March 26, 2016 at 11:35 AM:  A vehicle reportedly struck a pedestrian at Harney Lane and Vintage Road in Lodi.

Calaveras Supervisor injured in Lodi???

   March 26, 2016 at 11:15 AM:  We received a report that Calaveras Supervisor Oliveira of District 3 may have been injured and is lying in the roadway near Micke Grove Zoo in Lodi.

   Further investigation proved that it was NOT Oliveira, but another turkey vulture that was injured on Micke Grove Road.  One person said, "Wow, sure look a lot alike."

Man found dead in motorhome

   A man was found in a motorhome Thursday March 24, 2016 around 3:30 PM that had been parked in Railroad Flat, near the school, all day and apparently most of the previous night.

   The cause of death is not yet know, pending an autopsy and the name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. 

Injured deer on Hwy 88 in Pioneer

   March 26, 2016 at 10 AM:  An injured deer has been reported on Hwy 88 near Pioneer Volcano Road in Pioneer.

   Be extra cautious until CHP can arrive at the scene. And buy $10 bumper deer warning whistles to save yourself and the deer.

Liquor stolen in Arnold

   On March 25, 2016 a business on Hwy 4 in Arnold reported that a man had stolen liquor.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a petty theft report. No indication is given whether the suspect is known.

Burglary in West Point

   On March 25, 2016 a burglary was reported to the Calaveras Sheriff by a resident on Woodhouse Mine Road in West Point.

   One of their appliances had been taken in the burglary. A deputy took a report on the incident.

Suspicious person on Poole Station Road NOT Supervisor Edson??

    On March 25, 2016 a report to the Calaveras Sheriff of a suspicious person on Poole Station Road turned out NOT to be our "BULLY" Supervisor Edson.

   It was apparently first believed he was out drumming up business for his failing restaurant, but it turned out to be another bum, panhandling.

   March 26, 2016 at 9:20 AM:  A hit and run collision was reported on Winton Road near Hidden Valley Road in West Point.

   Nationally we've seen many demands for birth certificates to prove nationality or race.

   Now the SierraSentinel.com is demanding a copy of the Birth Certificate of Cliff Edson to prove that he is Hispanic. Send it to us email, Mr. Edson.  There is talk that he was actually born in Africa.

   On March 24, 2016 the mayor of Elk Grove announced that they had just signed a contract with NRC, a prototype manufacturer for a large facility which will add 2500 new jobs in the City.

   They have intelligent elected officials, unlike Calaveras County, where the Tea Party wouldn't know a job from a potty chair. If you want a good job, you need to move out of Calaveras. Congratulations, Elk Grove residents!

   On March 24, 2016 a resident on Longman Lane in Arnold reported that cash had been stolen.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report of the incident.

Burglary in West Point

   On March 24, 2016 a resident on Bald Mountain Road reported a burglary to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office.

  A report was taken of the incident. No other details are available at this time.

   March 25, 2016 at 5:45 AM:  A car has run off Hwy 4 near Tracy Boulevard and gone into the canal in the Tracy area.

    The driver has escaped and a tow truck has been dispatched to the scene.

Car vs pole in Oakdale

   March 24, 2016 at 4:45 AM:  CHP is en route to a reported car vs. pole collision at Orange Blossom Road and Horseshoe Road just off Hwy 108 in the Oakdale area.

   Lines are down and the tree nearby is now on fire.  The car has a door open with lights on inside.  Fire personnel and PG&E are also responding. Use extra caution if in that area.

Comedian Garry Shandling dies

   Garry Shandling suffered a heart attack this morning in Santa Monica a passed away suddenly.

    Shandling was 66 years old and had not been known to be ill.

  March 24, 2016 at 12:50 PM:  A car and pickup collided and then one rolled over on Hwy 4 near the Spicer Road turnoff.

   March 24, 2016 at 11:35 AM:  A Honda has collided with a flatbed trailer on Hwy 26 at Gertrude, just east of Hwy 99.

Placer County wants water laws lifted!

   In a letter to California State Governor Brown, Placer County has requested all water restrictions for Placer County are no longer necessary; that they have much more than enough water.

   In Calaveras County we NEVER did have a shortage of water. Still, CCWD mandated us to insane restrictions, killing most of property owners landscape, natural and planted.  WHY is CCWD not demanding to have the restrictions lifted?

CalFire gets giant 747 fire plane--too late for Calaveras Butte Fire vicitms

   Now that Calaveras County has been burnt alive, CalFire has decided that fighting fires from the air is the only way to succeed.

  In fact, they just received a 747 fire retardant plane, which is now at McClellan Air Force Base in Sacramento.  Most of us could have told them before the Butte Fire that the only way to put out a fire early is from the AIR, and immediately!!

Tractor ends up in Lodi Lake

   When an attempt to steal a front loader tractor failed, thieves drove it into Lodi Lake.

   A crane was required to pull it out, per Lodi Police. The thieves have not yet been caught.

   Looks like Sarah Palin is getting what she wants. She just signed a deal to do a reality show pilot.

   Warm Springs Productions, who do shows for the NRA and other outdoor productions, says the 'mama grizzly' is a natural for their type of show. Plans are to begin airing in 2017.

   Rob Ford, former Mayor of Toronto, died this morning of a rare abdominal cancer.

   A few days ago, his doctor announced he was resuming treatment for a recurrence. He was exposed and removed from office for allegedly smoking crack, wild drinking parties, homophobic and sexist remarks.

    On March 21, 2016 at around 6:30 AM Allan Friely (27) of Oakland was driving a 2014 International box truck westbound on Old Priest Grade above Jamestown.

Terror attack in Brussels

   Just a day or so after the Brussels police arrested the man they believe was behind the terror attack in France, explosions have now rocked their city.

   At least one explosion killed 10 in the subway and possibly 2 explosions have killed 15 at their airport.

Three vehicle collision in Escalon

   March 21, 2016 at 12:55 PM:  A three vehicle collision has been reported at Hwy 120 and Hazelhurst Road in Escalon.

    Five people have injuries. CHP is at the scene. The roadway is completely blocked, so avoid the area if possible.

PIckup hits tree in Mokelumne Hill

   March 21, 2016 at 11:40 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 26 near Ponderosa Drive in Mokelumne Hill where a grey pickup hit a tree.

   No injuries have been indicated. Emergency vehicles are responding to the scene. The vehicle appears to be on fire.

Angels Camp woman arrested in Valley Springs

   On March 19, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Tina Marie Davis (52) of Angels Camp at Hwy 26 and Hwy 12 in Valley Springs.

   Davis was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Possession and Purchase for Sale of a Narcotic Controlled Substance, a felony and for Possession of a Controlled Substance, along with Possession of Unlawful Paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. In addition  to these she allegedly had an outstanding warrant for her arrest.

Angels Camp arrest for Vehicle Theft

   On March 19, 2016 Angels Camp Police arrested Heather Marie Call (36) of Angels Camp at Hwy 4 and Hwy 49.

    Call was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Vehicle Theft and Receiving Stolen Property over $950 in value, both felonies. She was later released on bond.

Motorhome blocking Parrotts Ferry Road

   March 20, 2016 at 3:45 PM:  A motorhome reportedly pulling a small car is broken down and blocking the roadway on Parrots Ferry Road near the bridge.

   This is on the Tuolumne County side. Be cautious if in the area until a tow truck can clear the roadway.

City of Angels Camp BANS all marijuana in City limits

   With one NAY by Amanda Folendorf, the Angels Camp City Council has placed a total ban on marijuana in the City limits.

    The council lined up all their friends; people like Firman Brown, Jack Lynch, and a planning commissioner to speak in favor of a ban.  There will be a final hearing on the subject on April 18, 2016.

DA Barbara Yook fights against pot, but likes METH???

   A serious problem has developed with the Calaveras District Attorney Barbara Yook.

  She continually fights to stop marijuana consumption, cultivation and legalization. Why doesn't she do something to stop the real problem in Calaveras??  METH!!!

"BULLY" Calaveras Supervisor Edson has most Child Abuse

    It appears that being a "BULLY" Supervisor affects your constituents. Edson is the worst bully on the Board and it shows in his stats on children.

   San Andreas has 102 incidents of Child Abuse in the year 2015, more than double any other town in the county. Eliminate Edson, no 2nd term for BULLIES!!
