Big rig overturned on Hwy 132

   UPDATE at 8:05 PM:  The big rig is now upright and CHP can begin clearing the roadway for regular traffic.

Calaveras Supervisors support SB 1118 and AB 2314

   That Calaveras Board of Supervisors will hold a Special Meeting tomorrow, Tuesday April 5, 2016 at 9 AM to approve two letters supporting California SB 1118 (Originally a Homeowners Exemption and now Disaster Relief) and AB 2314 (a related disaster relief bill). Both bills are in committee at this time.

   Other than public comment, nothing else is on the agenda. We did forget that Chair BULLY Edson will demand prayer time for evil women who believe they should have rights. That will take some time.

Car crashes into campground in Pine Grove

   April 4, 2016 at 3:20 PM: A driver reportedly lost control of their car and crashed into a campground on Tableau Road in Pine Grove.

   CHP and an ambulance is en route to the scene.


Car thru fence into field

   April 4, 2016 at 3:15 PM:  A car reportedly ran off Hwy 26, through a fence and into a field near Stanley in West Point.

   CHP and an ambulance are en route to the scene. Use caution if in the area.

Major injuries in midnight collision

    According to CHP around midnight April 4, 2016 Barbara Travieso (30) of Sheep Ranch was driving a 2008 Toyota southbound on Sheep Ranch Road, north of Gold Mountain Road in Sheep Ranch at an unknown rate of speed.

   In an attempt to turn around after missing her driveway, she drove off the roadway, collided into a tree down the southbound embankment, overturned and landed on its wheels.

   Per CHP Ms. Travieso was arrested for suspicion of DUI and released into the care of Doctor's Hospital in Modesto for treatment of major injuries.  

Bus hits wall at Pioneer Elementary School

   April 4, 2016 at 10:35 AM:  A bus reportedly hit a wall at Pioneer Elementary School in Martell.

    Children were on board, but no injuries were indicated. CHP is at the scene.

Police called to altercation at propane company

   April 4, 2016 at 10:15 AM:  Police were called reportedly due to a physical altercation at a propane company, involving a dump truck driver, on Main Street in Angels Camp.

   Fire department personnel also arrived at the scene while an officer was interviewing people.  Details are not known at this time. 

Waldtraut "Wally" Gill of Murphys

      Murphys resident Waldtraut "Wally" Gill died unexpectedly of natural causes on Wednesday March 30, 2016 She was 84.

Vehicle vs. tree in Winton

  April 4, 2016 at 8:20 AM:  A vehicle  is reportedly on fire after hitting a tree at Olive Avenue and Central Avenue in Winton.

   Fire, CHP and an ambulance are en route to the scene.

Saddle Queen 2016

     At 2 PM on May 19, 2016 the winner of the Saddle Queen for Calaveras County Fair will be decided.

   From Calaveras High School there will be Callie Fischer and Christa Gillio. From Bret Harte High School contestants are Gracie Granam, Melanie Nelson and Samantha Smith.

Collision at I-5 and Hwy 205 connector

   April 4, 2016 at 7 AM:  A collision with injuries has been reported at I-5 and Hwy 205 in the Tracy area at the connector.

   CHP is en route, along with an ambulance. Be extra cautious if headed that way

Two semis collide in Patterson area

  April 4, 2016 at 6:50 AM:  Two semis have reportedly collided at Howard Road and Ingram Creek Road in the Patterson area.

   CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries have been indicated.

Traffic collision in Oakdale

   April 4, 2016 at 6:05 AM:  A vehicle reportedly ran off Hwy 120 in Oakdale and damaged an Oakdale Irrigation box.

   No injuries have been indicated, but be cautious if in the area.


Only SIX Miss Calaveras contestants in 2016

   The contestants for Miss Calaveras 2016 have been announced by the Calaveras County Fair. May 19, 2016 at 8 PM only six will take the stage.

   Macy Breaux, a student at Bret Harte High School, Haley Long of Calaveras High School, Brighton Hamari of Bret Harte High School, Emma Hampton of Calaveras High School, Makayla Ruthrauff of Calaveras High School and Sierra Stackpole of Calaveras High School.
