Control burns in Stanislaus Forest near Greeley Hill--Destroy Wildlife

   The Stanislaus National Forest Service office in Sonora has announced plans to control burn 545 acres around Greeley Hill beginning next week.

   They contend that this is for our own good to destroy the food products the wildlife needs to survive.

Injured deer in Jamestown

   April 6, 2016 at 2 PM:   A deer has been struck and injured by a red truck on Hwy 108 at Sierra Rock Road near Jamestown.

   The deer is still alive and struggling, suffering. CHP is sending someone out to shoot it. Be careful in the area.

Merle Haggard dies on 79th birthday

  Merle Haggard, the true "Okie  From Muskogee" passed away a few hours ago, on his 79th birthday.

   He was a legend in country music.

Calaveras Fish and Game Commission corrupt????? Another reason to recall KEARNEY!!

   Ever since we learned that Supervisor Kearney had appointed a man he is personal friends with named Magladry  (nickname Baglady), to the Fish and Game

Suspicious Circumstances reported in Calaveras County

  A lot of suspicious people, vehicles and circumstances are reported to the Calaveras Sheriff each day.  Some of the more interesting on April 4, 2016 were:

    A white adult male around 50 with a big white beard,

Amador County Supervisors meet

   On April 12, 2016 the Amador County Supervisors will hold a meeting in Jackson at 9 AM on Court Street.

   We don't have the agenda as yet. Will post info as soon as we see it.

Grand theft in Arnold

   On April 4, 2016 a Grand Theft was reported on Tipton House Road in Arnold.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report. We have no other details. 

Fire extinguisher hit car windshield on Hwy 99

   April 6, 2016 at 10:15 AM:  A fire extinguisher reportedly fell off a big rig at southbound Hwy 99 at the Kansas offramp in Modesto and hit the windshield of a red Honda Civic.

   Fortunately no injuries have been indicated. They are awaiting arrival of CHP.

Honking and screaming disturbance

   Around 11:50 AM on April 4, 2016 a caller reported to the Calaveras Sheriff that on Blue Mountain Road in Wilseyville could hear a disturbance; a vehicle horn honking, and screaming between what appeared to involve a mother and son behind a locked gate.  The Sheriff took a report.

     Around 3 PM on April 4, 2016 two callers reported a disturbance to the Calaveras Sheriff that two males on West Point Pioneer Road in West Point were trying to hit each other with bricks. No report was taken of the incident.

Traffic collision in Standard

   April 6, 2016 at 10 AM:  CHP is just clearing a traffic collision at Tuolumne Road and Standard Road in Standard.

   Injuries were minor in this collision.

Burglaries and thefts reported in Calaveras County

   On April 5, 2016 the following burglaries or thefts were reported:

   At the Natural Bridges Park parking lot on Parrotts Ferry Road

Traffic collision in Plymouth

   April 6, 2016 at 9:50 AM:  A car and a truck have reportedly collided on Shenandoah Road in Plymouth.

     CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries have been indicated, but be cautious if heading that way.

Disturbance calls in Calaveras County

   Around 2:50 AM on April 6, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office received two calls for a disturbance on Feather Drive in Copperopolis. No report was taken.

   Around 7:45AM: on April 5, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff received a

Bicyclist dies after being hit by two cars

  A bicyclist died after being hit by two different cars on East Avenue near Vincent Road in Turlock around 8:30 PM on April 5, 2016.

   The second car, which is now missing its front bumper, fled the scene. CHP is investigating.

Hwy 26 blocked due to collision in Valley Springs

   April 6, 2016 at 8:25 AM:  A traffic collision on Hwy 26 at Nove Way in Valley Springs has blocked the roadway there.

   Avoid the area if possible until CHP can clear. An ambulance is en route to the scene.

Traffic collision in Valley Springs

   April 6, 2016 at 8:15 AM:  A car reportedly drifted off Paloma Road near Daphne in Valley Springs, caught the barbed wire fence and then drug it back across the roadway, spinning completely around before stopping.

   CHP is en route to the scene. No injuries are indicated, but be extra cautious if in that area.

Measles scare in Calaveras

   April 5, 2016: According to the Calaveras Health and Human Services Agency, one case of measles has been confirmed, having been in Calaveras County.
