One vehicle in canal in Turlock

   April 30, 2016 at 4:30 PM:  A Ford pickup and a Ford Expedition reportedly collided at Morgan Road and Bradbury Road in Turlock.

   An ambulance and two tow trucks are responding. One vehicle ended up in the canal.

Tree down in Lockeford

   April 30, 2016 at 2;50 PM:  A tree has been reported down on Hwy 88 near Tully Road in Lockeford.

    Be extra careful in that area until it can be cleared.

Car hits gas can on Hwy 4

   April 30, 2016 at 1:50 PM:  A car has reportedly hit a gas can that was on Hwy 4 near Cedar Vista in the Forest Meadows area.

   No injuries were indicated but CalFire was dispatched because the can is smoking. Be extra cautious if headed that way.

'Neighbors from Hell' everywhere!

   On April 29, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office received two reports about an altercation between neighbors on Tanner Street in Murphys.

   As we've often been told, there are "Neighbors from Hell" everywhere and it has nothing to do with growing marijuana. The Calaveras Sheriff did not take a report.

Pine Grove woman arrested in West Point

   On April 29, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Michelle Lynn Alec (39) of Pine Grove at the Dun Rovin Mobile Home Park in West Point.

   Alec was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Robbery and Bringing a Controlled Substance into the Jail, both felonies.

Arrest in Valley Springs

   On April 29, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Clinton Robert Council (40) of Stockton on Gabor Street in Valley Springs.

    Council was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Assault with a Firearm on a Person, a Felon in Possession of a Firearm and First Degree Burglary, all felonies and for Destroying or Concealing Evidence, a misdemeanor.

Large tree down on Winton Road

   April 30, 2016 at 1:30 PM:   A large tree is reportedly down on Winton Road near Hidden Valley Road in West Point.

   They are trying to find a large enough chain saw to cut it up. Be extra cautious if in that area.

Chevy Tahoe takes out fence in Plymouth

     April 30, 2016 at 11:30 AM: A gray Chevy Tahoe reportedly took out around 50' of fence at Latrobe Road and Lorentz Road in Plymouth.

   No injuries were indicated. The property owner was notified and a tow truck dispatched to the scene.

   On Thursday evening April 28, 2016 CCWD held a community meeting to present their plan for replacing an old pipeline in the area. Underhill attended the meeting.

   In their press release they used phrases like "contructive Q&A session", "excellent
questions" that 'fleshed' (yes, they wrote fleshed, not flushed) out considerations about events, a "healthy dialogue" and how to "stay informed".  We didn't hear it in exactly the same way.

There won't be a John Wayne Day in California

   Today, April 29, 2016 the California legislature discussed a bill to name one day in late May as John Wayne Day, his birthday.  It was due to racist comments he had made.

   After it was brought up that he had denounced allowing blacks to be equals, wanting white supremacy to stay in an article in Playboy Magazine, the bill failed.  Looks like there won't be a John Wayne Day in California.

  On April 28, 2016 a burglary was reported by a resident on Calaveritas Road in San Andreas.

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

Cruelty to pot-bellied pig in Vallecito

  On April 28, 2016 a resident on Red Hill Road in Vallecito reported animal cruelty to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office.

   A pot-bellied pig had been hit with an arrow. The Sheriff's Office took a report.

Caltrans work at night

   Beginning Sunday, May 1, 2016 and continuing through Friday May 6, 2016 Caltrans will be conducting work programs on various highways in San Joaquin County at night, from 7 PM until 6 AM.

   Affected are Hwy 26 to the Calaveras County line, Hwy 120 and Hwy 99 at Hwy 4 xtown freeway.  Be cautious if you have to drive in those areas at night.

   April 28, 2016 at 8:30 PM:  A woman is reportedly standing in the middle of Parrotts Ferry Road at Sawmill Flat Road screaming near Columbia College.

   CHP and the Tuolumne County Sheriff's Office are responding. Be extra cautious if headed that way.

  Cal Fire just issued a press release that burn permits will be required as of May 1, 2016 in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties.

 Even with a burn permit, you must call Air Pollution control each day to see if its a legal burn day. Most CalFire stations can issue you a permit.

The judge called Republican Hastert a "serial molester"!

   Although the court could not charge former Republican House of Representatives Speaker Dennis Hastert with crimes against children, the judge did lash out against the man who apparently molested many children when they were at the school where he coached.

   The judge repeatedly referred to Hastert at a "SERIAL MOLESTER". Hastert made a vague apology without really apologizing.  The man he promised $3 million to, has now filed a lawsuit to try and get the rest of the money.

Employee found dead at Apple Headquarters

   A male employee was apparently found in a conference room at Apple Headquarters in Cupertino this morning.

   April 27, 2016 at 12:15 PM:  A tractor pulling a haybaler reportedly overturned due to a collision into the canal at Husman Road near Ingomar Road in Gustine.

   An ambulance is responding due to major injuries; fire was dispatched due to a grass fire starting and a tow truck was en route to upright the tractor.  Avoid the area if possible.

Murphys Community Park gets grant--Vandalism damage!

   Murphys Community Park announced today that they have been granted $15,000 from the Calaveras Community Foundation to make the playground safer for children.

    The money will go for tons of bark chips now required by the state, and a new swing set.  Vandals also damaged the slides and other portions of the playground, which will  be repaired.

Former Republican House Speaker gets sentenced

   Dennis Hastert, once considered among the Republican elite insiders, and Speaker of the House of Representatives, was sentenced to prison today.

   He wasn't sentenced or convicted of the sex crimes allegedly behind his fraud charge, but for bank activities in paying off the apparent victims of his past. He got 15 months in prison, but will not likely serve near that much.

Motorcycle crash on I-5 at Xtown freeway

   April 25, 2016 at 11:15 AM:  A solo motorcycle collision has been reported on southbound I-5 at the Xtown freeway east (Hwy 4) in Stockton.

   Traffic is backed up, and roadway will have to be shut down to recover injured rider and motorcycle. Avoid the area if possible.

Rollover on Obyrnes Ferry Road

   UPDATE:  Per CHP no injuries have been indicated in this rollover.

Burglars escape moving motorhome

   On April 24, 2016 around midnight, a man reported that while he was driving his motorhome on Copper Cove Drive two men jumped out and ran towards the trailer park.

   They had apparently broken in to the motorhome and were sleeping in it; woke up when it began to move.  The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

Family of Tamir Rice will get $6 million

   It has been reported that the family of Tamir Rice has settled their Civil Rights case against the City of Cleveland.

   Rice was killed by police there. The settlement is expected to be $6 million.

Frogs on the road

   The Calaveras Jumping Frog van is beginning its rounds of frog jumping contests in anticipation of the finals during the County Fair the third weekend in May.

   They will be traveling to the County government center and to the State Capitol for jumps among elected officials.

Two big rigs collide in Lodi

   April 25, 2016 at 6:15 AM:  Two big rigs have reportedly collided on Hwy 12 at Flag City Boulevard in Tracy.

City of Angels Camp to ban ALCOHOL?? Close BARS??

   After the last City Council meeting for the City of Angels Camp there was a lot of talk about Councilperson Folendorf's suggestion that all ALCOHOL should be banned in the city limits; especially after the other 4 councilpersons voted to ban all cannabis.

   Several people agreed and we are in favor of the next council meeting placing it on the agenda.  Alcohol is clearly the most dangerous drug and more of a concern for the AC Police Department.  DRUNKS try to kill our CHILREN and GRANDCHILDREN everywhere in Calaveras County.

Traffic collision on Hwy 88

   April 24, 2016 at 7:30 PM:  CHP is at the scene of a solo vehicle that overturned on Hwy 88 near Ham's Station.

   One person has a head injury and an ambulance responded. A tow truck is en route.

Crash in Linden

   April 24, 2016 at 5:30 PM:  A vehicle crash has been reported at Fine Road and Hwy 26 in Linden.

  Fine Road is blocked. An ambulance is en route to the scene. Avoid the area if possible.

   April 24, 2016 at 2 PM:  A motorcycle rider has reportedly been injured on Swiss Ranch Road in Railroad Flat.

   April 24, 2016 at 11 AM:  A tank blew out of a pickup and hit a motorcycle on Hwy 59 Turlock Road near Snelling.

    The motorcycle reportedly went down. An ambulance is en route to the scene. Be cautious if headed in that direction.

Trailer with bad tire on Hwy 88

   April 24, 2016 at 10 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a 35' trailer with a bad tire where a man was reportedly in the roadway trying to change the tire on Hwy 88 and Ridge Road in the Jackson area..

   A tow truck has been dispatched for the trailer which apparently has a blown out wheel bearing.  Be cautious as tow truck arrives at the site and hooks up to the trailer.

Giants at home today vs Marlins

   Today, April 24, 2016 the SF Giants host the Miami Marlins at AT&T Park in San Francisco.

     The Giants have 9 wins and 10 losses and the Marlins are 5 and 11. The game is scheduled for 1 PM PDT.

Car crashes on Parrotts Ferry Road in Columbia

   April 23, 2016 at 5:25 PM:  A car has reportedly run off Parrotts Ferry Road near Union Hill Road in the Columbia area.

   CHP and a tow truck are en route. Be careful in that area as the car is partially blocking the roadway.

  

Car into ditch near Black Oak Casino

   April 23, 2016 at 5:20 PM:  A tow truck has been dispatched to pull a vehicle that overturned out of a deep ditch on Black Oak Road, near the casino.

   It is not visible from the road. No injuries were reported.

Motorcycle crashes in Jamestown

   April 23, 2016 at 2 PM :  A full-sized Harley Davidson motorcycle reportedly hit the guard rail at Rawhide Road and Shell Road and went down.

   CHP is at the scene. An ambulance is en route. Also a tow has been dispatched. Be extra cautious in the area.

Angels Camp loses another needed business??

   We were just told that a little vacuum sales and repair shop on Main in Angels Camp has now closed up.  They sold belts and fixed them all.

   We tried the phone number listed and it has been disconnected.  Another one bites the dust in Angels Camp. Sad times, these, all due to our city leaders.

Traffic collision in Pioneer

   April 23, 2016 at 9:15 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 88 at Raven Road in Pioneer.

   Minor injuries were sustained in this collision between a Jeep and a Subaru. A tow truck has been dispatched to the scene.

Chains required on Hwy 4

   Now that there has been a collision, chains are required on Hwy 4 in Ebbetts Pass, just east of Cottage Springs.

   Be cautious on all roadways in the county.

Car hits building in Groveland

   April 23, 2016 at 8:45 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a traffic collision on Hwy 120 at Back Street in Groveland, where a vehicle hit a sign that is not in the roadway and then apparently hit a building.

   The driver has not been located, but the building is being taped off. It isn't known if there are any injuries. Be cautious if in that area.

Baby possums in roadway in San Andreas

   April 23, 2016 at 7:30 AM:  Apparently a mother possum was runover during the night on Mountain Ranch Road near the hospital in San Andreas.

   Be cautious in the area because it was just reported that baby possums are running around the mother in the roadway.

Moke Hill road closed for training

   April 23, 2016 at 7 AM:  Main Street in Mokelumne Hill is closed this morning for fire structure activity training.

   Avoid the area, especially around Church Street until completed if possible.

   April 22, 2016 at 12:15 PM:  A traffic collision was just reported on Hwy 4 in Tamarack where a white Ford pickup slid off the roadway.

   A tow truck is responding to the scene. Chain requirements will probably be going up soon.

   April 22, 2016 at 12 Noon:  Chains are now required on Hwy 88 at Ham's Station in Amador County.

   No restrictions yet on Hwy 4. Drive carefully and carry chains if you're headed for the mountains.

  April 22, 2016 is Earth Day.  We need to try and get along with the wild creatures of our earth, instead of trying to destroy them all. It should be a natural instinct, but some are terrified of anything wild.

   Calaveras County Supervisors appoint wild animal killers to their Fish and Game Commission and hire paid assassins to kill as much of our wildlife as they can. If they don't live, humans will also die!! We share this earth!!

   On April 21, 2016 a resident on Lakeshore Court in Copperopolis reported a burglary to the Calaveras Sheriff.

   The Sheriff's Office took a report of the break-in.

Calaveras Supervisor Kearney tries to "head off" recall

Rancho Calaveras man arrested

   On April 21, 2016 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Terry Lee Novak (64) of Rancho Calaveras at his home on Hartvickson Lane.

    Novak was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Using a Controlled Substance; in Possession of a Firearm, a felony.

Head-on crash in Oakdale

   April 22, 2016 at 8:20 AM:  A head-on crash has been reported at Albers Road and Valk Road in Oakdale.

   Avoid the area if possible as ambulances and other emergency personnel are arriving at the scene.

Camping trailer goes into gully

   April 22, 2016 at 8:15 AM:  A camping trailer has reportedly gone off Moore Drive just outside Carson Hill and into a gully.

Toby Keith will perfom at Country Countdown Awards

   Toby Keith will perform using Merle Haggard's band at the Country Countdown Awards on May 1, 2016.

  Keith will sing "Okie From Muskogee", Haggards hit. Haggard died recently at the age of 79. Matthew McConaughey will introduce the song.

Truck loses wheel, crashes on Hwy 49

   April 21, 2016 at 5:35 PM:  A truck apparently lost a wheel on Hwy 49 near the Calaveras Airport and crashed.

   No injuries were indicated, but a tow truck is required to take the truck out of the roadway.

Dump trailer hits rail and dumps load

   April 21, 2016 at 5:15 PM:  A truck pulling a trailer loaded with dirt hit the railing at Obyrnes Ferry Road and Copper Cove Drive in Copperopolis.

   Dirt was dumped all over the roadway. No injuries were indicated. County roads is being called out to clear the roadway, which is currently blocked.

Collision in Burson

   April 21, 2016 at 5 PM:  A collision has been reported on Hwy 12 at Southworth Drive in Burson.

   It isn't known if there are injuries. A tow truck is responding to the scene.

   April 21, 2016 at 11:55 AM:  A four vehicle crash involving a big rig has been reported on northbound I-5 near Roth Road in the Lathrop area.

   An ambulance is en route, along with 2 CHP. Be cautious as there is debris in the roadway at the scene.

   

Singer Prince found dead at estate

   The rock singer famous for "Purple Rain" has been found dead at his estate in Minnesota.

   His publicist made the announcement. No other details have been made available. He was 57 years old.
