CCWD holding meeting in White Pines - Pipeline

   CCWD just sent out a press release regarding what they are calling their Reach 3 Pipeline Project, replacing 20,000' of pipe in Arnold.

   A community meeting will be held in Arnold on Tuesday, April 26, 2016 from 6 PM to 7 PM at Independence Hall in White Pines.

Car spins out and hits wall near Yosemite

   April 25, 2016 at 2:50 PM:   A car has reportedly spun out and hit the wall on Hwy 140 not far from Yosemite.

    No injuries have been indicated, but it's on a bad curve and will require a flatbed tow.  Stay clear of the area if possible.

Crash in Mokelumne Hill

   April 25, 2016 at 2:45 PM:  A collision has been reported on Hwy 26 and Lafayette Street in Mokelumne Hill.

   CHP is en route. No injuries have been indicated.

Collision leaves debris on Oakdale roadway

   April 25, 2016 at 2:35 PM:  A collision has reportedly caused debris to go all over Lone Tree Road in Oakdale.

   CHP and an ambulance are responding to the scene. Use caution in the area.

Several vehicle spinouts on Hwy 41 near Fish Camp

   April 25, 2016 at 2:15 PM:  CHP has several reports of cars spinning out on Hwy 41 near Fishcamp, due to the snow.

   Chain signs did not go up soon enough and now CHP is handling resulting problems.

Dead German Shepherd on Hwy 99

   April 25, 2016 at 12:55 PM:  A German Shepherd dog has been hit and is dead on northbound Hwy 99 at Hatch in Modesto.

    CHP and animal control are responding. Use extra caution if in that area.

It's snowing in Arnold!!!

  April 25, 2016 at 12:50 PM:  We just heard that it's snowing in Arnold right now.

   Be careful if you're headed up the mountain. Carry chains.

DA: Don't publish Calaveras KKK Project names??

   After we announced that we will be publishing the names of what we have been told is the newly formed Calaveras KKK Project, we received some unfriendly comments.

   Now we are told by a friend of a friend that apparently District Attorney Barbara Yook is trying to protect these members. WHY??? And shouldn't they all be proud to be part of a well-meaning community association???

Tea Party white secessionists moving north?

   We understand that those Tea Party white separatists who spoke that they wanted Calaveras County to secede from California, have had a welcoming invitation.

   The northernmost counties who want to be an all white racist separate state have, we have been told, invited all of them to come and move to their part of the state.  We wish them the best ....  and good riddance. Shall we list them here??

Motorcycle crash on I-5 at Xtown freeway

   April 25, 2016 at 11:15 AM:  A solo motorcycle collision has been reported on southbound I-5 at the Xtown freeway east (Hwy 4) in Stockton.

   Traffic is backed up, and roadway will have to be shut down to recover injured rider and motorcycle. Avoid the area if possible.

Pickup hits tree, in ditch in Waterford

   April 25, 2016 at 10:30 AM:  A pickup hit a tree and is now in a ditch off Hwy 132 and Crabtree Road in Waterford.

   CHP is at the scene. A tow truck and ambulance are responding .

Colby Ryan Fouch of West Point

    Colby Ryan Fouch, 14 years old, died on April 20, 2016 in West Point, California.

     Colby was born

Car hits center divide on Hwy 99

  April 25, 2016 at 10:05 AM:  Reportedly a speeding car pushed another vehicle into the center divide at Hwy 99 and Briggsmore Avenue in Modesto.

       Be cautious if headed in that direction as emergency vehicles arrive on scene.

Large trucks losing gravel on Hwy 108

   April 25, 2016 at 10 AM:  CHP has received a report that large trucks are losing gravel on Hwy 108 and Obyrnes Ferry Road in Jamestown.

      Be extra cautious if following a gravel truck in that area. This driver's car was apparently struck by gravel.

Rollover on Obyrnes Ferry Road

   UPDATE:  Per CHP no injuries have been indicated in this rollover.

Burglars escape moving motorhome

   On April 24, 2016 around midnight, a man reported that while he was driving his motorhome on Copper Cove Drive two men jumped out and ran towards the trailer park.

   They had apparently broken in to the motorhome and were sleeping in it; woke up when it began to move.  The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report.

Family of Tamir Rice will get $6 million

   It has been reported that the family of Tamir Rice has settled their Civil Rights case against the City of Cleveland.

   Rice was killed by police there. The settlement is expected to be $6 million.

Frogs on the road

   The Calaveras Jumping Frog van is beginning its rounds of frog jumping contests in anticipation of the finals during the County Fair the third weekend in May.

   They will be traveling to the County government center and to the State Capitol for jumps among elected officials.

Two big rigs collide in Lodi

   April 25, 2016 at 6:15 AM:  Two big rigs have reportedly collided on Hwy 12 at Flag City Boulevard in Tracy.

   No injuries have been indicated, but be cautious if in the area.
