CHP officer hit by Fed Ex truck on Hwy 50

    UPDATE:  The FedEx driver was arrested for alleged DUI.

Fatal rollover on Hwy 99

   May 7, 2016 at 12:10 PM:  A car that rolled over several times has resulted in a fatality for  the driver who was thrown from the vehicle on northbound Hwy 99 just below Merced.

   Three lanes of traffic are blocked as emergency vehicles and a tow truck are arriving at the scene. Avoid the area if possible. Only one lane is still open. Debris is all over the freeway.

Junk vehicles on Hwy 4 - Oliveira can't handle problems!!

   All this week, drivers on Hwy 4 from Ebbetts Pass to Angels Camp have noticed and reported both an abandoned camper and a trailer parked on the Caltrans right of way.

   Supervisor Oliveira says he doesn't know what to do about it.  Junk vehicles not collecting in District 3 of Calaveras County did not occur under Supervisor Callaway.

Vandalism to Motorhome in Dorrington

   On May 6, 2016 a resident on Indian Rock Road in Dorrington reported someone had vandalized their motorhome.

  The Calaveras Sheriff's Office took a report of the incident.

Burglary in Arnold

  On May 6, 2016 a resident on Aspen Way in Arnold reported  a burglary where items were stolen from the home.

Calaveras Supervisor Oliveira NERVOUS about RECALL???

   We hear that Calaveras Supervisor of District 3, who has made many more enemies than friends since his narrow election, is extremely nervous about being RECALLED.

   Every day we hear more and more talk about the Tea Party and MEANEST member of the Calaveras Supervisors getting the BOOT.

Injured buzzard on Hwy 49

   May 7, 2016 at 10:50 AM:  An injured buzzard has been reported in the passing lane just beyond the airport on Hwy 49 between Angels Camp and San Andreas.

   Use extra caution until CHP can arrive on scene.

Traffic collision on Hwy 26

   May 7, 2016 at 10:45 AM:  A solo vehicle collision has been reported on Hwy 26 near Alpine Road, just east of Stockton.

   A male was reportedly laying on the roadway unconscious; an ambulance is en route to the scene for major injuries. A tow truck has been dispatched. Be extra cautious if headed that way.

  

Man and woman arrested in Valley Springs

      On May 6, 2016 at around 2:10 AM Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Jason Daniel August (32) of Mountain Ranch and Kathy Lorraine Mount (30) of Valley Springs on Butler Lane in Valley Springs.

   August was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, a felony and was released on bond; Mount was booked for allegedly Inflicting Corporal Injury on a Spouse, a felony.

Mountain Ranch man arrested in Angels Camp

   On May 7, 2016 at 1:40 AM Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested John Allen Logg (44) of Mountain Ranch on Hwy 49 at Copello Drive in Angels Camp.

   Logg was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Violation of Parole, a felony and for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor.

Major injury collision in Knights Ferry

   May 7, 2016 at 9:45 AM:  A three vehicle traffic collision has resulted in major injuries on Hwy 108 and Kennedy Road in Knights Ferry.

   A Jeep is on its side. The roadway is blocked. Three tow trucks and an ambulance are en route to the scene. Avoid the area if possible until cleared.
   

Cows on Hwy 59 in Don Pedro area--Please don't tell the TROLL!

   May 7, 2016 at 9:40 AM:  6-8 cows have been reported on Hwy 59 near Las Armomitas in the Don Pedro area.

   Be extra cautious until CHP can locate the owners and remove them from the roadway. And please don't tell the TROLL!!

Ram on the road (not a truck)

   May 7, 2016 at 7:35 AM:  A ram is reportedly on Micke Grove Road near Morse Road in the Lodi area. This is not a truck!

   Be cautious if headed in that direction until authorities can find the owner and remove him.

Hold those Axes and Chainsaws!!

     Cutting and pruning at this time of year has been reported to be a cause of the spread of the Bark Beetle. SPI's clear cutting is causing widespread exposure to this pest of death it is believed.

   Immune systems are weakened due to the years of drought and cutting, especially clear-cutting causes the spread of this bug. Wait to prune or cut until November if you care about your other pines and cedars.
