   On June 14, 2016 the SMUG (Sierra MacIntosh Users Group) will meet at the Ebbetts Pass Fire District building in Arnold.

   The subject this meeting will be exploring the icloud. The public is welcome to attend.

Mountain Ranch search warrant served

  Per a press release:  On May 23, 2016 Calaveras County Sheriff's detectives served a search warrant at a property on the 9000 block of Wendell Road in Mountain Ranch, for an assault with a deadly weapon

Big rig loses propane tanks at Lake Alpine

   May 24, 2016 at 1 PM:  A big rig had a traffic collision and lost its load of propane tanks on Hwy 4 near Lake Alpine.

   A big rig tow has been requested. No injuries have been reported.

Car vs. pole on Pool Station Road

   UPDATE on May 26, 2016 at 9:15 AM:  Per CHP on May 24, 2016 around 9:30 AM Jamie Ruth Mayer (20) of Campbell was driving a 2006 Subaru on Pool Station Road north of Riata Road at approximately 50 MPH.

Supervisor Edson likes livestock auctions

   Calaveras Supervisor Edson says he liked watching the livestock auction at the Calaveras County Fair.

   We don't see the joy in raising an animal only to see it sold and butchered. Sorry Mr. Edson. You are a poor excuse for a human being!!

Home invasion robbery suspect arrested

      Tuolumne County Sheriff's deputies arrested Sean Evans, with no known address, on Friday, May 20, 2016 for the alleged Home Invasion Robbery in Jamestown on April 29, 2016.

   Evans is identified as a transient, and was identified through a photo lineup by the victim.

   We want to thank Supervisor Debbie Ponte of Calaveras District 4 for assisting us with getting rid of two junk vehicles on Hwy 4. One was an abandoned camper and the other a trailer.

   We understand that Caltrans also put pressure on the removal group at Calaveras County for their help.  Unfortunately, Supervisor Oliveira, in whose district the camper was parked, said "it's not my job, man."

Taxpayer energy program PACE fails

   The PACE taxpayer energy program was presented to the Calaveras Supervisors on the May 24, 2016 agenda.

   The program attaches the cost of any energy improvements such as insulation,

Traffic collision on Hwy 4

   May 24, 2016 at 10 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 4 near Appaloosa Way in Angels Camp.

   No injuries were indicated. Be extra cautious until the roadway is cleared.

Ponte and Wright absent from Board of Supervisors

   Neither Supervisor Debbie Ponte of District 4 nor Supervisor Chris Wright of District 2 were present when the May 24, 2016 Board of Supervisor meeting was called to order.

   We understand that Debbie Ponte is having surgery and Chris Wright arrived later on in the meeting.

New Resident says 'No jobs in Calaveras County" to Edson

   New resident from Florida Lori White came before the Calaveras Supervisors at the May 24, 2016 meeting to comment on several issues.

   She said that she is very disappointed that there are no jobs

Cannabis Workshops in Calaveras County

   If you grow cannabis, you must register with Calaveras County Planning Department by May 30, 2016 or risk losing your ability to cultivate.

   The Calaveras Cannabis Alliance is holding a workshop on May 25, 2016

Kitten on the freeway?

   May 24, 2016 at 8:35 AM:  A kitten has been reported on I-205 in Tracy. CHP is en route to the scene.

   Be extra cautious if headed that way.

Doug Martin, longtime Calaveras County resident

   Doug Martin, a long-time resident of Calaveras County, passed away peacefully surrounded  by his loving family on Saturday May 21, 2016. Born January 8, 1937, he was 79.

Calaveras Supervisors honor Captain Jim Macedo

   For many years, Calaveras Sheriff's Captain Jim Macedo has run the Sheriff's department, especially during the years Kuntz was Sheriff, as many of us already know.

   After Kuntz death, Macedo continued to run the department smoothly until the
appointment of the new Sheriff DiBasilio. The Board will honor him at their Tuesday, May 24, 2016 meeting, beginning at 9 AM.
