Anonymous tip on missing Mark Dantche

   June 5, 2016: It's  been a year since Mark Dantche went missing and the Calaveras Sheriff launched a massive search to try and find him.

  Today we received an anonymous tip about Dantche, which we have forwarded to the Calaveras Sheriff DiBasilio.  Thank you for the information. Thank you for caring about Calaveras County.

Fire near Placerville contained

  Called the Aukum Fire, the wildfire near Placerville reached 25 acres, but has now been brought under control by CalFire. The cause is under investigation.

  No homes or structures were threatened. This was near Mt. Aukum and Grizzly Flat Road. Two firefighters were injured battling this blaze.

Traffic collision in Farmington

   June 5, 2016 at 12:30 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 4 at Sonora Road, just this side of Farmington.

    Minor injuries resulted from this collision. Three CHP are at the scene. One lane was blocked, so be extra cautious if headed that way.

Pacific Crest Trail re-opens

   The Chimney Fire in Tulare County was started by humans near the Chimney Creek Campgrounds and has burned over 1800 acres. 

    The Pacific Crest Trail had to be closed for a few days, but the fire is now 90% contained at the perimeter, so the trail is now re-opened.

Soda Fire in San Luis Obispo County

   The Soda Fire is burning on BLM land in San Luis Obispo County. As of 8 AM on June 5, 2016 2000 acres have burned.

   No structures have been threatened and the perimeter is 80 % contained.

3000 homes in Calabasas evacuated

   After a pickup hit a power pole, the transformer fell and started a fire in the Calabasas area near LA. 500 acres have burned so far.

   3000 homes have been evacuated. One commercial building was destroyed and 2 homes were damaged.  Several celebrities live in the area.

Chihuahua on Hwy 99

   June 5, 2016 at 10:05 AM:  A dark brown Chihuahua was reported running in and out of lanes on Hwy 99 at the Hwy 26 offramp in Stockton.

   CHP is en route to the area, but be cautious if headed that way.

Parade car needs a tow in Sutter Creek

   June 5, 2016 at 10 AM:  A car headed for the Italian Picnic Parade in Sutter Creek broke down and had a hard time getting a tow.

   CHP stopped to assist, since the vehicle was blocking old Hwy 49 in town.

I-5 re-opens

 June 5, 2016:  After a sinkhole caused the entire I-5 freeway to close down in the Tracy area, crews have worked 24 hours a day and replaced the pipe 40' down on both sides.

   The freeway is now re-open to traffic in both directions.

Pickup hits tree at Phoenix Lake

   June 5, 2016 at 9:30 AM:  A black pickup reportedly hit a tree off Phoenix Lake Road in the Phoenix Lake area, and the tree is now in the roadway.

   An ambulance responded for the driver of the pickup. Tuolumne road crew is being dispatched for the tree.

  

Cows are busy

  June 5, 2016 at 7:45 AM:  The cows have evidently been busy in Calaveras County overnight.

   There is a black cow out on Littlejohn Road at Olive Ranch Road in Copperopolis. Be cautious until the owner is located.

Three cows on Hwy 26

   June 5, 2016 at 7:45 AM:  Three cows have been reported out on Hwy 26 at Olive Orchard Drive in  Valley Springs.

   CHP is en route, but be cautious until they can locate the owner.

SF Giants in St. Louis

   June 5, 2016: The SF Giants are in St. Louis today to play the Cardinals.   The game starts at 5 PM PT.
