Collision in Vallecito

   June 15, 2016 at 8:25 PM:  A Chevy Suburban and a Jeep Cherokee reportedly collided on Sugar Pine Way in Vallecito.

   CHP is at the scene. It isn't known if there are injuries.

Motorcycle crash in Lathrop

  UPDATE:  Another crash has been report not far from this one, at the I-5 and Hwy 120 interchange.  Be extra cautious if in that area.

Cheyenne Fire at Camanche--Update

   June 15, 2016 at 5:30 PM: Per CalFire the Cheyenne Fire,  located near Camanche Reservoir is currently 83 acres and is 10% contained. Two outbuildings have been destroyed. 

    Several roads in the area are closed and evacuations have been ordered for many homes in the area.  The cause is apparently a lawnmower. Evacuation center is Toyon Middle School.

U.S. Senate holding filibuster over gun laws

   The Republican Senators are so afraid of the NRA that even when children and young people are murdered with an AR 15, they refuse to consider tighter gun laws.

   The Democrats are in the middle of a filibuster as we speak, hoping to keep the Senate in session until some Republicans come to their senses.  We have no hope for this, however.

Dog on Hwy 88 in Martell

   June 15, 2016 at 3:55 PM:  A small  dog has been reported running on Hwy 88 in Martell.

   Be cautious until CHP can reach the area.

Search vessel finds EgyptAir jet

   A French search vessel has reportedly located the missing wreckage of the EgyptAir jet that crashed on May 19, 2016.

   We don't know if they have yet recovered the black boxes.

San Jose motorcycle officer dies in crash

   A San Jose Police motorcycle officer has died after colliding with a car while making a left hand turn.

   No charges have been filed and it is not believed that drugs or alcohol were involved.

   This is the week that Davis shows the world that it loves the piano.

    There are pianos all over the streets and the music is wonderful.

Fire in Camanche area--Hwy 12 closed

   UPDATE Camanche Parkway South has been reopened, but Arapaho and Cobb will remain closed due to the fire. Hwy 12 is also now open.

Toddler grabbed by alligator in Orlando

   UPDATE:  The body of the 2 year old boy has been found about 15' from shore in 6' of water.

Orlando, Florida is having more than it's share of tragedies.

SJ County van in collision

   June 15, 2016 at 12:30 PM:  A San Joaquin County van has been reportedly in a collision with a blue Mustang on Hwy 99 and Arch Road in Stockton.

   No injuries have been indicated. CHP is at the scene.

Collision in Oakdale

   June 15, 2016 at 12:10 PM:  A white Mustang reportedly drove across lanes of Hwy 108 near Lancaster Road in Oakdale and ran 30' up the bank on the other side.

   A tow truck has been dispatched. CHP is checking for injuries. Be cautious if headed that way.

     During budget hearings, Bully Supervisor Edson wore a black short sleeve shirt--not the shirt and tie that he has demanded other Supervisors wear.

   Calaveras Supervisors are discussing with Public Works whether to add a person in management or to upgrade an existing person in the department.

District 1 Supervisor admits priorities will change

Things will change, all right!
   During budget hearings the current Supervisor of District 1 admitted that there will be a major change in elected Supervisors in Calaveras next year and priorities will change.

   Since he is one of the Supervisors who is likely to be replaced due to his bad decisions, Tea Party ideals and love of asphalt and racists, it is good that he is aware of
this.

Budget talks at Calaveras Supervisors

   The Calaveras Supervisors are considering removing capital equipment purchases needed by Public Works to grant matching funds needed to get approval.

   There are 3 buses that are already being delivered to the county for transit, in spite of the fact that they haul very few people each day.

CHP reports on DUI in Calaveras

   CHP reported to the Calaveras Supervisors that they have investigated 211 collisions in Calaveras County so far this year.

   They stated that 10% are known to be DUI related.

Live fire training for CalFire

   From June 22, 2016 through June 24, 2016 CalFire will hold  live fire training at the Sardella Ranch on Wards Ferry Road in Tuolumne County.

   Both Calaveras and Tuolumne units will participate in learning how to fight fire by lighting fire and to control perimeters.  There will be smoke in the area.

Timothy Schlenz of Calaveras County

   Timothy John Schlenz was born on June 6, 1962 and passed away at his home on June 7, 2016 after a battle with alcoholism.

   The Tuolumne County Sheriff is looking for applicants for Jail deputy.

   They will accept recruits or laterals for the jobs.

Rollover in San Andreas

  June 15, 2016 at 8:45 AM:  A solo vehicle has rolled over at Hwy 12 and Hwy 49 in San Andreas.

  Fortunately, no injuries have been reported. A tow truck is en route to the scene. Be extra cautious until they can remove the car.

Kitten saved from being snake food

   This kitten in Lincoln was grabbed and is now in a rescue facility, almost ready for adoption.  As we all know, there are too many evil people allowed to run loose in the world.

   A man was going to feed this 5 week old kitten to his pet snake. The Fieldhaven Rescue organization says this is what can happen when you give away free kittens.

Gravel on Jamestown roadway

   June 15, 2016 at 8:40 AM:  Gravel has been reportedly spilled on Hwy 108 near Tulloch Dam Road in Jamestown.

   Be cautious in the area until a crew can get out there and clean it up.

West Point man arrested for sex with minor

   On June 14, 2016 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Logan Aries Verkuyl (24) of West Point on Hwy 26 in West Point.

   Verkuyl was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Unlawful Sexual Intercourse with a Minor, Oral Copulation and Sex Penetration with a victim under 18, all felonies.

Collision in Twain Harte

   June 15, 2016 at 8 AM:  A two car collision has been reported on Hwy 108 and Sugar Pine Drive in Twain Harte.

   Fire personnel are at the scene. No injuries are indicated. Be cautious until they can clear the lanes.

Motorcycle vs. deer on Hwy 49

   June 15, 2016 at 6:30 AM:  A motorcycle reportedly hit a deer on Hwy 49 near New Melones Reservoir.

   The rider received minor injuries. No report on the deer.  Calaveras CHP is on scene. The rider refuses an ambulance. A tow truck is required for a fully dressed Harley.
