Ailicia Stanley passes

   On June 29, 2016 Alicia Stanley of Forest Meadows passed away. She was 79 years old.

   Alicia spent many years in Arnold

Fireworks reported in Ebbetts Pass

   Although it is well known and posted on the state sign in Murphys that NO FIREWORKS are allowed in Ebbetts Pass, there are those who ignore the law.

   In fact around 10:50 PM

Burglary in Wilseyville

   On July 3, 2016 a resident on Bald Mountain Road in Wilseyville reported a burglary to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office.

   The Sheriff took a report of the incident.

Gunfire and fireworks reported in Copperopolis

   On July 3, 2016 just after midnight the Calaveras Sheriff received several complaints of gunfire and aerial fireworks in the area of Sawmill Road, Cheyenne Road and Choctaw Road in Copperopolis.

   The complaints apparently stopped after 1 AM.  The Calaveras Sheriff took no report of the incidents. 

Robbery arrest in Murphys

   On July 3, 2016 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Monica Marie McHardy (32) of Murphys at her residence on Woodland Drive.

   McHardy was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Robbery, Causing the death or harm of an Elder Dependent and vehicle theft, all felonies and for misdemeanor Vandalism.

Three cubs orphaned after mom hit by car in Yosemite

   A car hit a mother bear at Yosemite National Park and killed her over the 4th of July weekend.

   The three orphaned cubs were very small and have been taken to Lake Tahoe
Wildlife Center.

Christine Craddock of Railroad Flat

   Christine Angela Craddock went home to be with the Lord on June 25, 2016 after a lengthy battle with cancer.

   She was born in Walnut Creek on March 7, 1971 and grew up in Calaveras

SMUG meets in Arnold

   The Sierra MacIntosh Users Group (SMUG) will hold a regular meeting at the Ebbetts Pass Fire District Office on Blagen Road in Arnold on July 12, 2016.

   The meeting is scheduled to begin at 7 PM and the public is invited to attend.

Safe and Sane Fireworks cause Copper Fire

   At approximately 9:47 PM n July 5, 2016 CalFire responded to a call of a vegetation fire in the 4600 bock of King Lane in Copperopolis.

   The fire was contained by locals before either Copper Fire or CalFire arrived at the scene.  It burned about a 20' x 20' spot. The homeowners were cited. Is there really such a think as "safe and sane" fireworks?

Vehicle causes Glencoe fire

   On July 4, 2016 around 9:30 PM CalFire responded to a report of a fire in the 16000 block of Hwy 26 in Glencoe.

   The fire was quickly extinguished at just a 30; x 30' spot of dry grass.

Music in the Parks today at Camps

   The Calaveras County Arts Council presents Music in the Park today at Camps Restaurant in Greenhorn Creek.

  Grover Anderson will be performing from 6:30 PM to 8 PM.

Amador County Supervisors

  The Amador County Supervisors will meet next on July 12, 2015 at 9 AM in Jackson.

   It will be held in the Board Chambers at 810 Court Street.

Appaloosa Fire Update

This fire scared residents from Copper to Angels
   July 6, 2016 at 8 AM:  The Appaloosa Fire,  just outside Angels Camp has burned 310 acres, but is now 75% contained per CalFire.

   This fire, according to CalFire, was started by a person working on an electric breaker box. The worker was cited for negligence.

Larry Dale Routson of Valley Springs

   Larry Dale Routson was whisked away by angels on June 26, 2016 while resting at his he in Valley Springs. He was 60 years old.

   Larry was born in Watsonville

Tailhead Fire nears containment

   July 6, 2016:  After over a week, CalFire reports the Trailhead Fire in Placer and El Dorado counties is 75% contained.

   Acreage burned is 5614, but no homes have been lost. They are still investigating the cause.
