   July 4, 1922 - June 29, 2016

   Dean was born in Waterford and passed away peacefully at Avalon Health Care with Wanda and Lance Oneto by his side.

Calaveras Supervisors could approve cannabis regulation at next meeting

   On July 12, 2016 at 9 AM the Calaveras Supervisors have on their agenda the decision of whether to simply approve the initiative to regulate marijuana at this meeting or to spend $172,000 of taxpayer money for consultants and over $40,000 on another ballot item in November.

   It seems smart to save all that money and make the regulations permanent, instead of leaving it hanging in the air, especially since the state is likely to approve cannabis for all uses in November.  Some say our Supervisors are not all that SMART!!  We'll see!!

Major injury collision in Lodi

   June 7, 2016 at 1 PM:  A collision reported at Hwy 99 and Cherokee Lane in Lodi has resulted in major injuries.

   A red pickup overturned on the southbound offramp to Cherokee and is blocking the offramp. At least two vehicles were involved. Be cautious if headed that way.

   Kobe Bryant was apparently thrilled when his friend Snoop Dogg presented him with a Lakers inspired car for his retirement.

California State Fair opens Friday July 8, 2016

   The Sacramento State Fair opens this Friday July 8, 2016 in Sacramento and will run for 17 days.

   It will be held at CalExpo.  Be sure to take plenty of money. Admission is $12, but Parking is extra, and so is most everything else.

Traffic collision in Salida

   June 7, 2016 at 11:45 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 108 near St. Francis Avenue in Salida.

   Emergency personnel, including an ambulance are responding. Use caution as one vehicle is blocking the roadway.

Hitchhiker apprehended suspect in fire in Friant

   A mix up between CalFire districts caused traffic to be diverted from the Friant area fire to the closed section of Hwy 41 in the Madera area.

   A hitchhiker was apprehended as a suspect in the Friant area fire.  They are trying to clear up the traffic mess now.

   The day after the Appaloosa Fire, burning was seen on what had been previously known as Bear Mountain, just outside Angels Camp. we are told

Transit van in collision in Tuolumne

   July 7, 2016 at 11AM:  A Tuolumne County transit van was involved in a traffic collision in front of the Post Office on Carter Street in Tuolumne.

   CHP is responding to the scene. We don't know if there are injuries.

Car seen driving erratically, overturns in Modesto

   On July 7, 2016 a car that had been seen driving erratically at Hwy 132 an Gates Road in Modesto overturned.

   The driver had to be helped out of the car which was on its roof. He was taken to the hospital with major injuries. CHP is still investigating.

Truck dragging chain starting fires

   According to CalFire and CHP a truck was reportedly dragging a chain and has started several fires off Hwy 41 in the Madera area.

  Hwy 41 is closed for firefighting at this time.  The truck causing the fires was located.

   At the June 21, 2016 Calaveras Supervisors meeting a couple of people got up to speak of how terrified they are of their neighbor who grows cannabis.

Cow with bell on Hwy 108

   June 7, 2016 at 8:40 AM:  A grey cow with a bell has been reported out on Hwy 108 at Snowwhite Ridge Drive in Long Barn.

   CHP is en route. Be extra cautious in the area and please don't tell the TROLL!

Two living on deck in Arnold?

   On July 6, 2016 the owner of a closed business property in Arnold reported to the Calaveras Sheriff that at least two males were living on the deck of the building.

   When the deputy arrived, the males had departed.  This is a common problem in vacant homes and businesses around the county.

Attempted break-in in Murphys

   On July 6, 2016 a business on Main Street in Murphys reported to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office that the door had been damaged due to an apparent attempted break-in.

   The Sheriff took a report of the damage.

Assault arrest in Burson

   On July 6, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Joseph Shane Redding (43) of Campo Seco on Buckboard Lane in Burson.
