Abandoned vehicle on Hwy 4

   August 31, 2016 at 8:35 AM:  An abandoned vehicle has been reported on Hwy 4 in the eastbound lane near Shirewood Drive in Arnold.

   Be extra cautious until a tow truck can be brought in to remove it.  It is apparently broken down.

Mokelumne Fire grows

   The Mokelumne Fire in Alpine County has grown to 352 acres, but threatens no homes at this time, as of August 31, 2016.

  Per USFS the fire is 30% contained.

Willow Fire in Calaveras County UPDATE

   CalFire reports that the Willow Fire is 90% contained as of August 31, 2016 and never grew beyond 450 acres officially.

   Caused by a woman driving a vehicle who has been charged with arson, some people in the Willow Valley Subdivision are still under evacuation orders.

   August 30, 2016 at 3:15 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on High School Street at Calaveras High School in San Andreas.

   One vehicle was a school bus. We don't have any other details at this time.

Early Fire near Groveland UPDATE

Yes, the Rim Fire area is
burning again. The cause is
unknown per USFS.
   As of 1 PM we are notified that the Early Fire, which is actually burning in the scar of the RIM Fire, is 50% contained.

   So far, since it started on August 29, 2016 around 2 PM, 187 acres have been burned.  This incident, along with the Mokelumne Fire incident are not listed in the USFS Incidents logs for some reason.

   Winkler was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Filing False or Forged Documents and for an outstanding warrant for Possessing a Controlled Substance in Prison, both felonies.

Vallecito Union School District board member arrested

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff's Office on August 29, 2016 at approximately 7:20 AM Carol Anne Gordon (71) of Murphys was arrested on Sugar Pine Way in Murphys.

Traffic collision in Lodi

   August 30, 2016 at 8 AM:  CHP are at the scene of a two vehicle collision on Lower Sacramento Road and Eight Mile Road in the Lodi area.

  Injuries are minor and tow trucks have been dispatched to the collision. The roadway was blocked, but is now clear.

Fire in Groveland-Early Fire

   Named the Early Fire, 65 acres has reportedly burned in a fire in Groveland near Cherry Lake Road.

   Five air tankers and two helicopters worked to suppress this fire that started atound 2 PM on August 29, 2016. The press release did not state containment numbers.

   According to the Calaveras County booking records for August 28, 2016 around 1:50 PM CHP arrested Renee Ilene Hogan (45) of San Andreas on Mountain Ranch Road near Mills Road.

   She was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Causing the Fire of an Inhabited Structure, Causing the Fire of a Structure and forest land and Arson, the State of Insurrection, (this is a rebellion against the government, usually manifested by acts of violence), all felonies and for DUI for any drug, a misdemeanor.

Gravel on Obyrnes Ferry Road in Copperopolis

   August 29, 2016 at 9:30 AM:  It has been reported that there is gravel spilled on Obyrnes Ferry Road at Poker Flat Road in Copperopolis.

Evacuation lifted for Old Gulch Road

   August 28, 2016 at 6:30 PM:  The evacuation order has been lifted for the Old Gulch Road area in the Willow Fire.  The Willow Creek Subdivision is still under mandatory evacuation orders.

   Total acreage now officially charred in 450 and containment is 15%. 30 engines and 5 airtankers are working this fire. At least one residence has been destroyed.

   UPDATE:  CHP just pulled off this incident. They also closed their incident on this fire. hmmm.

Evacuation Center at San Andreas Town Hall

   August 28, 2016 at 4:45 PM:  We just received a notice from the Calaveras Sheriff's Office that an evacuation center is being opened at the San Andreas Town Hall.

   This is for evacuees of the Willow Fire.  But how are people supposed to get there with Mountain Ranch Road blocked?  We aren't sure. Edson must be in charge again!

Willow Fire nears 55 acres--Car started fire

  UPDATE at 2:45 PM: Unofficially the Willow Fire is now estimated at 55 acres and growing.  It started on the east side of Mountain Ranch Road near Willow Creek Road in San Andreas.

   Fire personnel are responding from all areas around Calaveras County and beyond. Air support is also at the scene.  This is an area not burned in the Butte Fire.
  The vehicle that started this fire was apparently a Hyundai with a blown tire.

Big rig and sedan collide outside Farmington

   August 28, 2016 at 11 AM:  A big rig and a sedan have reportedly collided on Jack Tone Road near Mariposa Road between Farmington and Stockton.

   The sedan ended up overturned in a ditch. An ambulance is responding for major injuries.  Avoid the area if possible until cleared.

Chimney Fire in San Luis Obispo County

   As of August 28, 2016 the Chimney Fire, burning in San Luis Obispo County has charred 45,108 acres.
 
      49 homes and 21 other structures have been destroyed. It is currently 52% contained. The cause has still not been determined.
  

Large rocks and debris on Hwy 49

   August 28, 2016 at 7:50 AM:  Large rocks and other debris has been reported on Hwy 49 near Hwy 132 in Coulterville.

   You need to know that you cannot be compelled to sign these forms. They will give these public entities the right to do whatever they want to your land. Be careful and think before you sign you property rights away!!!

   August 27, 2016 at 4:45 PM:  A  pickup has reportedly overturned on Littlejohn Road near Copper Cove Drive in Copperopolis.

Calaveras Supervisors hold night meeting-Prayers for Kearney and Edson!!

   On Tuesday, August 30, 2016 the Calaveras Supervisors will hold a night meeting in their board chambers in San Andreas.

   At 5:30 PM they will have a Closed Session and the regular meeting is scheduled to begin at 6 PM. This is after Supervisor "bully" Edson holds his prayer sessions for Kearney and himself to be re-elected.

   They need all the stupid prayers they can get!!!

Distracted driving causes Hwy 12 collision

   According to CHP on August 25, 2016 at approximately 12:05 PM Ana Bobrycki (17) of Valley Springs was driving a 2001 Toyota on Hwy 12 near Central Hill Road in the San Andreas area.

Mokelumne Fire grows

   As of August 27, 2016 the Mokelumne Fire located in Alpine County has grown to 200 acres.

   25 fire personnel are assigned to this fire, which the USFS says is a lightning strike that they decided to allow to burn, but are watching.  No structures are currently threatened.

  UPDATE at 10:50 AM:  Per Melinda at CalFire this fire, approximately 55'x50' spot, is now surrounded by hoseline and some resources have been released, including aircraft.

Spill on Hwy 120 in Manteca

   August 26, 2016 at 8:10 AM:  A spill of some type of berry or grapes has been reported on Hwy 120 east off Hwy 99 in Manteca.

   Be extra cautious until Caltrans can clean it up.

Clayton Fire in Lake County Update

   As of August 26, 2016 the Clayton Fire, has destroyed 300 structures and damaged 20 others.

   Nearly 4000 acres were burned. The fire is now 99% contained. A man has been arrested for alleged arson  regarding this and other fires in the area.

Car runs off Hwy 4 in Hathaway Pines

   August 26, 2016 at 6 AM:  CHP is still at the scene of a car that ran off Hwy 4 near Canyon View Drive in Hathaway Pines.

   The driver stated that a big rig had crossed the yellow lines and caused him to run off the road. Injuries are apparently minor. A tow truck is responding. Use extra caution if in the area.

   Per CalFire on August 23, 2016 around 12:25 PM they responded to a report of a grass fire in the 3400 block of Hwy 12 in Valley Springs.

   The fire was contained at less than an acre. The cause has not been determined.

   August 24, 2016 at 3:25 PM:  Rocks have been reported on Hwy 108 near Twain Harte Drive in Twain Harte.

Tully Fire in Humboldt County

   The Tully Fire is burning in Humboldt County near Hwy 169 and Martin's Ferry Road.

   As of 6:30 AM on August 24, 2016 this fire had burned 440 acres and was only 8% contained. Evacuations are in effect in the area.

Three missing tourists found alive off Hwy 120

Tuolumne County Sheriff's photo
   Three women who had been reported missing by part of a German tourist group, were located in a car that had run off Hwy 120 outside Groveland 24 hours earlier.

   The car was located down a steep embankment and the women had to be extricated, but were not seriously injured, according to the report.

Mokelumne Fire in Alpine County

   The USFS just issued a press release on the 147 acre Mokelumne Wilderness Wildfire in Alpine County.

   According to the information provided this fire was started on August 19, 2016 by lightning and is slow-moving, being managed by a 34 person crew and a helicopter.

   The Bird Fire has burned 147 acres off Hwy 580 below Tracy. It is mostly grass and brush.

   The fire is now 95% contained per CalFire.

Trump's Alzheimers symptoms worsen

   It does appear that Donald Trump's symptoms of Alzheimers are worsening since yesterdays meeting with a group of Hispanic leaders. We feel a Trumpty Dumpty coming on.

  As of 9:15 AM on August 19, 2016 the Blue Cut Fire in San Bernardino County is 37,000 acres and 26% of the perimeter is now contained.

  The cause of the fire is still unknown and the number of homes destroyed is being assessed at this time by a TEAM.  The number is high. 34,500 homes remain threatened by this fire.

   After a big build-up in the Trump campaign with changes in campaign chair and bringing in Breitbart right wing writer Banner, people expected a pivot.

Clayton Fire in Lake County: UPDATE

  As of August 18, 2016 at 8:30 AM the Clayton Fire in Lake County is nearly 4000 acres and is now 55% contained.

    Although they are indicating 268 structures destroyed, they warn the number may rise after they can get into the fire ravaged area to do a thorough count. Evacuations are still in effect.

CHP arrests Mountain Ranch man

   On August 17, 2016 around 10:10 PM a California Highway Patrol officer arrested Scott Alan Tracener (55) of Mountain Ranch on Rimrock Valley Road east of Swiss Ranch Road in Mountain Ranch.

   Tracener was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Evading a Police Officer with Disregard for Public Safety, a felony, and for DUI Alcohol/ Drugs, DUI over .08 and Hit and Run Property Damage, misdemeanors.

Blue Cut Fire UPDATE

  As of around 6:30 AM August 18, 2016 the Blue Cut Fire in San Bernardino County has burned 25,626 acres and is only 4% contained.

   They still have no number of homes destroyed by this fire, but 34,000 structures are still threatened and over 80,000 people have been evacuated.

   Calaveras County knows how you feel, as this brings back horrid memories of last September and the Butte Fire. The cause of the Blue Cut fire is still unknown.

Arsonist caught on Hwy 50

   After noticing a man leaving the scene of a small grass fire along Hwy 50 near Hazel Avenue in the Orangevale area on August 16, 2016 a CHP officer watched as the man went down further and set another fire, apparently right in front of him.

   The man was arrested and the fire department was able to bring the fires under control quickly.  How many lunatic arsonists are there on the loose??

Clayton Fire in Lake County

   Despite the arrest of an arson suspect in the Clayton Fire in Lake County, the fire continues to devastate the area.

    As of 4 PM on August 17, 2016 the total acres burned is 3900 and 175 homes have been destroyed.  Containment is now 40%.

   As of 2 PM on August 17, 2016 the Bluecut Fire reminds us of the Butte Fire, as they are now unable to even give an estimate of how many homes have been lost.

   The cause is still unknown in this devastation, but 30,000 acres are charred, 80,000 people evacuated and is still 0% contained.  34,500 homes are threatened currently.
