   The Angels Camp Police Department found a rental truck full of raw marijuana just like what had just been rounded up by our temporary pot-smoking sheriff Dibasilio. What is going on down there???

Arrest for selling marijuana in Angels Camp

   On October 29, 2016 around midnight, Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Patrick Alexander Bueno (30) of Corona on Hwy 4 in Angels Camp.

   Bueno was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Selling Marijuana, a felony, and released on bond.

Cows on Shake Ridge Road

   October 31, 2016 at 9:50 AM:  8 cows have been reported on Shake Ridge Road at Rams Horn Grade in Pioneer, not far from Daffodil Hill.

Tree falls on house in Ebbetts Pass

   October 30, 2016 at 3:20 PM:  A tree has reportedly fallen on a home in the Ebbetts Pass area. We don't have the name of the street at this time.

   Everyone got out of the house safely and the fire department has turned off utilities and secured the house. They want the building department notified.  There are so many dead tree in Ebbetts Pass. There are bound to be more of these.

   October 30, 2016 at 3:10 PM:  Chains are now required on Hwy 88 at Silver Lake in Amador County.

   Caltrans has closed Hwy 4 Ebbetts Pass and chains are required west of the Mt. Reba turnoff in Calaveras County.

Traffic collision on Hwy 49

   October 30, 2016 at 3 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 49 at Electra in Amador County.

   A car has gone off the side and into a ravine. Multiple cars have stopped to try and assist. Be cautious if in the area. An ambulance is en route.

Mudslide on Hwy 49 in Mokelumne Hill

   October 30, 2016 at 3 PM:  A mudslide has been reported on Hwy 49 at Hwy 26 in Mokelumne Hill.

   Both lanes are affected. Avoid the area if possible.

Flooding on Hwy 49

   October 30, 2016 at 2:55 PM:  Hwy 49 is reportedly flooding around Cosgrove, outside Angels Camp.

   Be cautious if out and about this afternoon and there can be slides and flooding in Calaveras County.

   October 30, 2016 at 10:30 AM:  CHP has just cleared a traffic collision that was reported near Hwy 12 and Hwy 26 in Valley Springs between a Toyota and a pickup pulling a trailer.

   Minor injuries resulted from this collision. A tow truck is removing the vehicles.

   October 29, 2016 at 11:35 AM:  A car reportedly ran off Hwy 26 near Farris Drive in Rancho Calaveras.  One person is apparently stumbling back to the roadway.

Traffic collision in Rancho Calaveras

   October 28, 2016 at 3:55 PM:   CHP is at the scene of a reported collision on Hogan Dam Road at Vista Del Lago Road in Rancho Calaveras.

   No injuries have been indicated and it is not blocking the roadway.

 

Boulder on Murphys Grade Road

   October 28, 2016 at 12:40 PM:  A boulder approximately 2' x 2' is reportedly on Murphys Grade Road not far from French Gulch Road.

   Be extra cautious until county crews can get there to remove it.

Collision in Manteca

   October 28, 2016 at 12:35 PM:  A rental truck and another pickup have reportedly collided at Hwy 120 and Hwy 99 in Manteca.

   It isn't known if there are any injuries, but be extra cautious if in that area.

   October 28, 2016 at 10:25 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported between a Ford Explorer and a black pickup at Hwy 88 and Jack Tone Bypass in Lockeford.

   No injuries were indicated and it is not blocking the roadway.

More arrests at harvest time for cannabis growing

   Yesterday October 27, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested many more who were in the county harvesting illegal cannabis crops at the old airport in San Andreas.

   Some were local, but many were from out of the area and even out of the country.  Most of the crops are most likely harvested now.  If they are arrested and their crops taken, maybe the illegal growers won't try to come back.

Flooding on Hwy 99

   October 28, 2016 at 10:10 AM:  Caltrans if busy today with debris and road flooding. Hwy 99 is flooded and vehicles are reportedly hydroplaning through standing water.

   On Tuesday November 1, 2016 the Angels Camp City Council will meet to approve a contract with High Country Builders to insulate the Museum Carriage House for a price of $ 29,995.

CCWD plans water shutdown in Arnold

    Depending on weather, CCWD is planning an overnight water shutdown on Wednesday November 9, 2016 from 9 PM until Thursday November 10, 2016 at 7 AM.

CalFire lifts burn restrictions

   According to a press release, CalFire is lifting the burning restrictions in Calaveras and Tuolumne Counties as of Friday October 28, 2016 at 8 AM.

Calaveras Elections office says no hacking

   According to a Press Release just issued by the Calaveras Elections department, voters should have no fear of hacking altering the votes of residents.

   Rebecca Turner says that all votes are counted and then counted again on paper ballots, and therefore, they expect absolutely no problems.

Republicans under court order--Don't try to monitor polling places!!

   October 24, 2016 at 8:10 AM:  CHP has received a report of a utility pole down on Hwy 88 near Raven Road in Pioneer.

Attempted Murder arrest in West Point

   On October 22, 2016 at approximately 7:50 PM Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Kevin Louis Cucuk (25) of Pioneer on Pine Cone Lane in West Point.

   Cucuk was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Attempted Murder,
Robbery, Assault with a Firearm, Kidnapping, False Imprisonment and being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm, all felonies.

Same man arrested in Angels Camp again

   On October 21, 2016 at approximately 7 PM Angels Camp Police arrested Ryan David Ashlock (27)  with no known address at 314 S. Main Street.

    Ashlock was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Being Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance, and released with a citation.

Resident of Spain arrested in San Andreas

   On October 18, 2016 around 2:20 PM CHP arrested Maria Eu Cifuentesfernandezshaw (26) of Madrid, Spain at Mark Twain Hospital.

   Cifuentesfernandezshaw was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged DUI causing Great Bodily Injury and DUI over .08 with injury, both felonies.

49ers at home today

   The San Franciso 49ers are at home in Levi Stadium today and welcome the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

   The Niners are in 4th place in their division. The game will be on FOX at 1 PM.

Calaveras Supervisor agenda packet 786 pages????

   As usual, the Calaveras Supervisors put out their Board meeting agenda packet on Friday, October 21, 2016 for the meeting on October 25, 2016.

   We have to wonder if the Supervisors actually read the entire packet. Do they even know what they are voting for??? This week's is 786 pages!! And part of it is the loan agreement which mortgages the county government center.

Calaveras Supervisors refinance $ 8 million loans

   On Tuesday October 25, 2016 the Calaveras Supervisors will refinance another $8 million in loans.  The current Supervisors can't stop spending our money!! Also, the county government center land is the backing for these loans.

   These are cleverly hidden as Certificates of Participation (COP's) so the public won't notice.   Why are we so in debt???? Stop spending!!  It costs $319,000 just for the issuance of these loans!  What are they thinking???

   At the Calaveras Supervisors meeting on October 25, 2016 they will recognize and thank Jason Boetzer for his 14 years of service.

   Boetzer, who replaced Brian Moss at Environmental Health last year, has been offered a better job in another county. Congratulations and Good Luck!!

USFS will be burning piles

   The USFS has announced it will begin burning debris piles within the Rim Fire area this week, weather permitting.

  Smoke will be visible from Hwy 120, 108 and Hwy 4.

Sailboat found on Lake Tulloch

   If you are missing a sailboat, a small one has been found on Lake Tulloch. Call the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office at 754-6500.

   Apparently no one has been reported missing regarding a sailboat at the lake.

CCWD meets with new President Davidson

   On October 26, 2016 at 9 AM the Calaveras County Water District (CCWD) will meet with their new President Jeff Davidson presiding.

   Terry Strange was removed from the position due to his failure to inform the Board that he was growing cannabis. Now that's a totally just punishment, right?

Hwy 17 to get tunnel for wildlife

   After millions of complaints and wildlife deaths on Hwy 17 over the years, Caltrans has finally allocated money to try and solve the problem.

   They will build a $3.1 million tunnel under the freeway to try and guide animals across the dangerous stretch of roadway. It's about time.  We need one or two on Hwy 4 too!

USFS lifts fire restrictions

   Due to cooler, wetter weather the Stanislaus National Forest has lifted burning restrictions.

   With permits, campfires will now be allowed outside prescribed areas.

Car into ditch off West Lane

   October 21, 2016 at 7:30 AM:  CHP is en route to a report of a car that ran off West Lane near Ham Lane in Lodi and into a ditch.

Car runs off Hwy 26 and down embankment

   October 20, 2016 at 3:15 PM:  Hwy 26 is closed while a tow truck recovers a car that ran off Hwy 26 at Woodhouse Mine Road in West Point and 80' down a steep embankment.

   Fortunately no injuries were indicated in this collision. Be cautious if headed in that direction.

Caltrans says another hour for Hwy 49 to open

  UPDATE:  Hwy 49 is re-open and injuries from this collision were minor.
