CHP Thanksgiving traffic report

   According to CHP between 6 PM Wednesday and midnight last night San Andreas CHP handled 5 accidents. Unfortunately one was a fatality.

   Officers wrote 38 citations; 19 for speeding, 1 for double yellow lines, 1 for no seatbelt, etc. Resident officers were kept busy in the snow in Ebbetts Pass. They responded to numerous spinouts and wrote 3 citations for trying to drive in the snow without chains.

Collision in Jenny Lind

   November 28, 2016 at 12:05 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 26 at Burson Road in Jenny Lind.

  No injuries have been indicated. CHP is en route to the scene.

Car runs off Hwy 49 at Hwy 12

   November 28, 2016 at 12 Noon:  A car has run off Hwy 49 at Hwy 12 in San Andreas.

   CHP is at the scene. No injuries are indicated. Be cautious if headed that way.

Donate to CHiP's for Kids

.   Once again CHP and Santa's Express are teaming up to provide hospitalized and disadvantaged children new unwrapped toys for Christmas.  They will be collected on December 15, 2016.

  You will find CHiP's for Kids barrels at the Calaveras Sheriff's Substation in Arnold, Angels Camp Police Station, Michelson Elementary School, Copperopolis Elementary School, Valley Springs Elementary and Jenny Lind Elementary schools; or at the CHP office in San Andreas.

Owl stuck in fence in Amador City

   UPDATE:  A raptor rescue team is en route to save the owl.

Traffic collision in Linden

   November 28, 2016 at 11 AM:  A two vehicle collision has been reported on Hwy 26 and Fine Road in Linden.

   CHP and a tow truck are en route to the scene, along with an ambulance.  Be cautious if in that area.

Calaveras Supervisors meeting cancelled!

   The scheduled Calaveras Supervisors meeting for November 29, 2016 has been cancelled.

   The next regular meeting in December 13, 2016.

CHP report on fatal collision

   According to the CHP report on November 26, 2016 at approximately 2:15 PM  Robert Kimmel (23) of Lockeford, was driving a 1993 Garbage Truck eastbound on Hwy 12 west of Central Hill Road outside San Andreas

   After a year and a half of ranting about the rigged elections in the US, now Donald Trump is complaining that the Green Party as filed for an official recount in three states.

Collision in Jamestown

   November 28, 2016 at 9:55 AM:  A collision has been reported on Hwy 108 at Rolling Hills Boulevard in Jamestown.

   Minor injuries are indicated. CHP is en route to the scene.

Arrest for Vandalism on Main Street in Murphys

   On November 27, 2016 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested an alleged vandal on Main Street in Murphys.

    No other details are available at this time.

Vandalism at Mike's Pizza

   UPDATE:  For those not aware of policy, when Angels Camp Police are not on duty, the Calaveras Sheriff's Ofice is contracted to cover for them.

Arrest for Vandalism in Murphys

   On November 27, 2016 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Taylor John Westberg (21) of Copperopolis on Fieldstone Drive in Murphys.

   Westberg was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged felony Vandalism and was released on bond.

Burglary on French Gulch Road

   On November 25, 2016 a residential burglary was reported on French Gulch Road in Murphys.

   The Calaveras Sheriff took a report of the incident.

Two dogs on Hwy 4

   UPDATE:  The owners of these two dogs was located. The roadway is now clear.

Animal on Hwy 12

   November 28, 2016 at 7:40 AM:  Some type of animal is on Hwy 12 in the Wallace area.  CHP has been  advised and is en route.

   Be extra cautious until they can arrive at the scene and clear the roadway.  We aren't sure what type of animal it is yet.

Chains required on Hwy 4

   November 28, 2016 at 7:30 AM:  Chains are required on all vehicles without 4 wheel drive east of Cottage Springs this morning.

   It is raining at 4000' now, but is supposed to clear up by this afternoon. Don't head for the mountains without chains.
