Calaveras Supervisors give Sheriff $100,000 tool for cannabis

    At the Calaveras Supervisors meeting on December 13, 2016 the Sheriff demanded that he must have a sophisticated measuring tool in order to handle the cannabis inspections.

   With Ponte disapproving, and rightly so, Oliveira, Clapp and Wright voted to give it to them. $90,000 is coming from the monies collected from growers. The temporary Sheriff campaigned to END cannabis growing!  Is he NUTS???!

Calaveras Supervisors Talking Cannabis

  The Calaveras Supervisors just heard reports from the Planning Department and the Sheriff's Department about how the Cannabis Urgency Ordinance is doing; the status of applications, and the work the Sheriff's Office is doing.

   Mr. Big Pot again go up and stuck his big nose into the microphone to bad mouth cannabis in general.  Booze
companies must pay a lot to keep people fighting against cannabis!!

Calaveras Supervisor Chris Wright honors Debbie Ponte

   At the December 13, 2016 Calaveras Supervisors meeting Chair Chris Wright honored her be reading a lengthy statement of recognition for her 4 years of service.

   The best part was when he said they had served together and had done the best they could considering the circumstances they were working under.

White pickup into snow bank of Hwy 88

   December 13, 2016 at 10:10 AM:  A white pickup with a utility bed has been reported over the embankment and into a snow bank off Hwy 88 at Peddlers Hill.

   No injuries have been indicated. Be cautious if in that area.

Edson a no-show for last Calaveras Supervisor meeting

   District 1 Supervisor  Edson was a NO-SHOW for the last Board meeting. The meeting wasn't called to order until 10 AM and was run by the rightful Chair of the Board Chris Wright.

   The meeting began with a lot of recognitions and welcome to newly elected Supervisor of District 5, Clyde Clapp. Oliveira fumbled through most of the recognitions.

Angels Camp meets in Special meeting tonite!! VIOLATION of BROWN ACT????

      At 8:15 AM on December 13, 2016 we receive notice from the City of Angels Camp that they are holding a Special City Council meeting tonight, and that PER THE BROWN ACT, they posted it YESTERDAY!! HUH????

   The purpose of the Special Meeting is to appoint a new City Administrator. Unfortunately, their current CAO is leaving the area.  This is a clear violation of the BROWN ACT!!!

Garbage truck vs car in Escalon

   December 13, 2016 at 9:10 AM:  CHP is at the scene of a collision between a garbage truck and a car at Hwy 120 and Carrolton Road in Escalon.

   Be extra cautious if headed that way. An ambulance is en route to the scene.

Calf on Hwy 26

   December 13, 2016 at 9:10 AM:  A calf has been reported on Hwy 26 near Warren Road in the Jenny Lind area.

  Be extra cautious until CHP can arrive to remove the calf from the roadway.

Injured deer in Sheep Ranch

   December 13, 2016 at 8:15 AM:  An injured deer has been reported on Armstrong Road, off Sheep Ranch Road in the Sheep Ranch area.

   Be cautious if headed that way.

School bus collision in Tracy

   December 13, 2016 at 8:05 AM:  A school bus has had a collision with another vehicle on Eastlake Circle in Tracy.

   Four students are apparently on board the bus, but no injuries have been indicated.  Be cautious as the roadway is partially blocked.

UPUD cancels December meeting

   Union Public Utility District has cancelled its December 21, 2016 meeting.

   Their next regular meeting is on January 18,2017.

Water outage in Arnold

   CCWD plans to have maintenance work done on Friday December 15, 2016 which will cause a water outage along parts of Blagen Road in Arnold.

   They hope to restore service by around 3:30 PM that afternoon, barring any problems.

Traffic collision in Sonora

   December 13, 2016 at 7:15 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported at Hwy 108 and Mono Way in Sonora.

   No injuries have been indicated. CHP is en route to the scene. Be watchful if headed that way.`
