Head-on collision fatal on Hwy 4

   February 7, 2017 at 3 PM:  A head-on collision is being investigated by CHP at Hwy 4 and Whiskey Slough Road in Stockton.

   One person with major injuries did not survive the crash.  Avoid the area if possible.

San Andreas man arrested for alleged Assault

   On February 6, 2017 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested James Eliseo Robinett (31) of San Andreas at the Chevron Gas Station in San Andreas.

    Robinett was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon, not a Firearm, a felony.

Warning: Murphys Creek high

   The Calaveras Sheriff's Office is warning people that Murphys Creek is flowing very high after the Utica Dam in Murphys.

   The dam is apparently not in danger, but residents along the creek should watch for rising water as the heavy rain contines. 

Jackknifed big rig on Hwy 49

   February 7, 2017 at 10 AM:  A big rig is reportedly jackknifed on Hwy 49 in Tuttletown. Both lanes are currently blocked.

   CHP and a big rig tow truck are en route to the scene. Be extra cautious if in that area.

Hwy 4 rock slides

     February 7, 2017 at 9 AM:  Due to mud and rock slides on Hwy 4 above Murphys, Caltrans crews are working to clear the roadway.

   Traffic control is in effect while they complete the work.  Be extra careful all the way up Hwy 4, as flooding and mud are crossing the road in many areas.

Missing Jenny Lind man found

     According to the Calaveras Sheriff, on February 3, 2017 the missing Jenny Lind man, was located on the bank of the  Calaveras River, and had apparently drowned.

    He had been driving his ATV on February 1 in that area and apparently accidently fallen into the river, and then was swept away during flooding.
