Angels Camp City Council limiting "Right to Farm"

   As usual, the Angels Camp City Council is again taking away property rights from voters and residents in their realm.

   The "Right to Farm" has been a policy in Calaveras County nearly forever, but the Angels Camp City Council plans to put THEIR regime rules against it at the meeting on Tuesday April 4, 2017.

Power lines down in Mokelumne Hill

  March 30, 2017 at 2:45 PM:  Power lines have been reported down on Railroad Flat Road near Prussian Hill Road in Mokelumne Hill.

   PG&E has been notified. Avoid the area if possible.

Collision on Hwy 49 in Sonora

  March 30, 2017 at 2:30 PM:  CHP is at the scene of an injury collision on Hwy 49 near Preston Place in Sonora.

   An ambulance and tow trucks are en route to the scene.  Be cautious if in that area.

County Supervisors secrets, planning??

   It was perfectly clear that something is going on behind the scenes with the Calaveras Supervisors. What kind of corruption is this??

Afternoon with John Muir at Bret Harte Theater

   Actor Lee Stetson will portray John Muir in a performance at Bret Harte Theatre on Sunday April 30, 2017 in Angels Camp.

Calaveras Supervisor Oliveira comment

   At the March 28, 2017 Calaveras Supervisors meeting, Supervisor Oliveira took exception to comments made by many as to why deputies do not stay in Calaveras County.

   Oliveira says that when they leave, they choose NOT to say why they want out. We know, that in many cases, it's the same reason we have for calling the department the most corrupt we have ever seen.

Car collides with work crew truck in San Andreas

   March 30, 2017 at 11:20 AM:  A collision has been reported on Poole Station Road near Andy Road in the San Andreas area.

   A government work crew truck was apparently struck by a vehicle.  No injuries have been indicated.

The battle over CATTLE!

   The ongoing battle over cattle grazing on forest lands has heated up after an environmental group filed suit against the Federal government for failing to protect forest lands.

Why bother with Calaveras General Plan now?

  If a new General Plan was begun in the year 2000 and after 17 years is still being worked out, costing Calaveras County taxpayers a fortune, what is the purpose?

   In 2020 isn't the 20 year time frame up and time to start yet another one?  Why bother finishing the one you've wasted all this money on now, anyway???

Reforestation Workshop in Sonora

   On Friday April 7, 2017 from 10 AM to 3 PM CalFire, NRCS and UC Extenson will host a Reforestation Workshop for forest landowner and foresters.

Native Plant Sale in San Andreas

   On April 8, 2017 CCWD will hold a Native Plant Sale at their offices on Toma Court in San Andreas.

    The time is from 10 AM to 1 PM and 100's of plants will be available for sale.

Off the beaten path RUN!!

     On Saturday April 22, 2017 the annual Off-the-beaten-path run will take place in Murphys.

    Entry fee is $30 each and it begins in Murphys Community Park. Get entry forms at Mind Matters Clinic in Murphys.

Calaveras Idol!! Only 10 entries allowed???

   At the 2017 Calaveras County Fair in May, another Calaveras Idol contest will be held.

   Only 10 entrants will be allowed, so if you want to participate call the Fair office for more information.

Arrest for witness tampering??

  On March 29, 2017 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Robert Patrick Jarrell (28) of San Andreas, on Wendell Court.

    Jarrell was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Preventing or dissuading a victim or witness,  a felony and for Exhibiting a Firearm, a misdemeanor.

Welcome! Come on in???

   The Copperopolis True Value Hardware store got a surprise when a customer apparently took literally the welcome sign on the front door.

  Actually, we understand she drove through the front doors and directly to the paint department. The store is due to reopen tomorrow after damages are repaired. No one was hurt in the incident.

Most Calaveras heavy drinkers over 65?? Supervisors??

   At the Calaveras Supervisors meeting on March 28, 2017 it was announced that April is Alcohol Awareness month and that there would be programs to discourage

Collision on Hwy 88

   March 30, 2017 at 7:20 AM:  A Mustang reportedly pulled out in front of a Bronco on Hwy 88 not far from Hwy 99 in Stockton and caused a collision.

   An ambulance is en route to the scene. One witness said that the Mustang was doing donuts in the lanes before the crash.
