Lightning, thunder, hail and showers

   What an afternoon it was in Calaveras County, as a large storm passed overhead.

    During a large part of the afternoon, lightning, thunder, hail and pouring rain reminded everyone that the drought is really over, at least for now.

Collision at Toyon

   April 13, 2017 at 7 PM:  A collision has been reported at Hwy 12 and Hwy 26 at Toyon between a silver ISUS and a white pickup.

   No injuries have been indicated, but be extra cautious if headed in that direction.

Report of Cannabis ADHOC committee--No more secrets

   Special Meeting called for April 18, 2017 at 9 AM, Calaveras Supervisors

   Although not included in the packet for agendized items at the Calaveras Supervisors meeting on April 11, 2017, we have obtained a copy of the written handout passed out at that meeting.

    There are 4 items listed:

Angels Camp City Council meets--for WHAT???

   How many times have we reported that the Angels Camp City Council wastes taxpayer money paying councilpersons to meet with NO agenda items.  And then we hear them cry they have NO money and have to RAISE our water and other needs.

   On Tuesday April 18, 2017 the council will AGAIN meet just for Closed Session items; one to give the cops a raise (to reward reckless driving) and the other a probable lawsuit.  There are absolutely NO items on the Regular Agenda.  They should be recalled!!!

Collision in Mountain Ranch

   April 13, 2017 at 1:10 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Mountain Ranch Rd. and Sun Road in Mountain Ranch.

   No injuries have been indicated, but be cautious if headed that way.

   Per CHP, on April 12, 2017 around 3:15 PM Mathew Jercich (54) of San Jose was driving a 2004 Pontiac at an unknown rate

USFS announces delay in some roads opening

   The USFS has announced that many of the forest roads in the Stanislaus National Forest will not be open for possibly a few weeks.

   This, of course, is due to the heavy storms which have left deep snow in the back country and their need to check these roads for damage before opening them. They advise you check with your local USFS office for details.

Dog on Hwy 26

   April 13, 2017 at 7:35 AM:  A large tan dog is on Hwy 26 near Burson Road in Rancho Calaveras.

   CHP is en route to the area.  Be cautious if headed that way.

Traffic collision in Mokelumne

  April 13, 2017 at 7:30 AM:  CHP is still at the scene of a car vs. tree on Hwy 49 near Big Bar Road in the Mokelumne Hill area.

    The tree fell across the roadway, so avoid the area if possible until it can be removed. No injuries were indicated.

Another rainy day

   Be careful if you are off to work this morning. The roads are wet, wet, wet!  Snow is at Camp Connell, where chains are now required.
