COG gets new Executive Director, sort of

   At the Special Meeting on July 24, 2017 COG will approve the appointment of Amber Collins to be their Executive Director.

   Collins has been working at COG for some time now.

Fire in Railroad Flat

  UPDATE at 6:30 PM:  Fire units are now relieved from this incident.

Another fire reported on Hwy 49

   July 22, 2017 at 3:45 PM:  Another fire has been reported on Hwy 49 near Mt. Ophir Road in Mariposa.

   Fire personnel are responding to the scene.

Bear Valley Music Festival

Begins tonite at 7 PM.

Cal Fire updates Detwiler Fire

   As of 1:30 PM on July 22, 2017 the Detwiler Fire has burned 75,200 acres, 60 homes and 63 other structures plus 1 commercial building.
 
   The fire is now 30% contained. Some evacuation orders have been lifted.

Delaine Eastin in Murphys Sunday

   At 4 PM July 23, 2017 Delaine Eastin will be at Hovey Winery on Main Street in Murphys. She is now a candidate for Governor as a Democrat.

   Accompanying her will be Eleni Kounalakis, who is running for Lieutenant Governor. If you would like to meet them, please come by.

Car rolls over off Hwy 49

   July 22, 2017 at 10:40 AM:  A car has reportedly rolled off Hwy 49 near Knickerbocker Road in the Awhanee area.

   CHP is en route to the scene.  Be cautious of emergency vehicles in the area.

Car vs. Tree on Hwy 120

   July 22, 2017 at 10:30 AM:  A car left Hwy 120 near Victory Avenue and hit a tree. This was between Escalon and Oakdale.

   CHP and an ambulance are responding to the scene.

Detwiler Fire Overwhelms CalFire comment

   Sam Lanier made some interesting comments:

Russia reports Sessions discussed Trump with them

   Everyone suspected something was up when Trump dissed his beloved (although puny) Attorney General Jefferson Beauregard Session to the NYT.

  Late last night it was revealed that the Russians were overheard talking about their discussions with Sessions during the Trump campaign, about the campaign.  Sessions is now likely a short-timer.

   A person who identifies themselves as Eric Dyck has made a lengthy comment:

   "Obviously not many commenting in the article has ever been in the fire service in California.  Yes fire is a high dollar business (yes I said business)

Dogs on Hwy 4

   July 22, 2017 at 9 AM:  Multiple dogs are reportedly running on Hwy 4 near Gillis Road just outside Stockton.

   Be cautious until animal control can arrive to the area.

Car runs off Obyrnes Ferry Road

   July 22, 2017 at 8 AM:  A car has reportedly run off Obyrnes Ferry Road in Copperopolis near Black Creek Drive.

   Emergency personnel are responding, including an ambulance.

New aircraft carrier cost $12.9 billion

This is what we need to spend our tax money on,
NOT healthcare for all, RIGHT???
   The newest aircraft carrier, capable of holding 75 planes, has two nuclear reactors and is over 1000' long.

   Named the USS Gerald Ford, the cost of the carrier was $12.9 billion.

'Home Alone' dad John Heard found dead

   John Heard, most famous for playing the part of the dad in 'Home Alone', was found dead in a Palo Alto hotel room by authorities.

   He was 72. An investigation is ongoing, but authorities say it is not suspicious at this time.

Chris Matthews: Trump really...

   Chris Matthews has said what most of us are thinking.  That is that Trump really believes he and his family are ABOVE THE LAW?

   Will he get away with this because the Republican  controlled Congress doesn't care about our country; only about their staying in power?  Hopefully, they won't be in power much longer!

Detwiler Fire 25% contained

   As of 7:45 PM on July 21, 2017 the Detwiler Fire was reported by CalFire as 75,000 acres and 25% contained.
 
    61 residences have been destroyed, 63 what they are describing a MINOR structures, have been destroyed and 1 commercial structure has been destroyed.  Also 13 residences have been damaged, and 6 MINOR structures have been damaged so far.
