Arrest for Theatening a Crime in Valley Springs

   On September 11, 2017 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Bryan Louis Sims (60) of Valley Springs at his residence on Goggin Street.

   Sims was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Threatening a Crime with Intent to Terrorize, Battery with Serious Bodily Injury and Causing Harm or Death to an Elderly Dependent.

Mountain Ranch man arrested

  On September 11, 2017 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Roland Ted Retherford (59) of Mountain Ranch at his residence on Cave City Road.

   Retherford was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon (not a firearm), a felony.

County COP (LOANS)--Goes back to Tryon/Callaway's 07-242

   The total of w hat is called COP (Certificates of Participation is $2.7 million.  We understand that this is what we still owe on loans from back in '07.

   That was the same year our Supervisors killed all growth with Tryon and Callaway's Res. 07-242, putting nearly all builders out of business for many years, along with costing jobs in all sectors of Calaveras County. This  also killed growth in tax revenue for the county.

Assessor's increase gives Calaveras' Oliveira more money to spend

   The Calaveras Assessor was pressured by Calaveras Supervisor Oliveira to raise tax assessment on all properties we are told.

   It worked. Property assessments are now over $1 million more for county revenue to spend. And spend it they will. It was just announced at the September 12, 2017 Board meeting.

Truck tires on fire

   September 12, 2017 at 2:45 PM:  A truck pulling a trailer reportedly has a fire in the wheels of the trailer on Hwy 108 and Obyrnes Ferry Road in Jamestown.

   CalFire and CHP are responding to the area.

  According to TMZ in an interview at LAX, Parts Unknown star Anthony Bourdain would cater a meal for Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump.

   Per TMZ he said he would serve vegetarian and poison.  Isn't it nice to be so popular, Mr. Trump???
