November runoffs in Calaveras County

  The Sheriff DiBasilio is not trusted enough, nor does he make the public

Stopper pulls ahead of Guidici in District 5

  As of 11:30 PM the votes are all counted in Calaveras and there is a change in the position of candidates in Supervisorial District 5.

    Clyde Clapp and Benjamin Stopper are now nearly tied with 31% of the vote each.  They will head to the runoff in November.

Ballots are still being counted in Calaveras!!

  Sadly, less than half of the 28,000 registered voters bothered to cast their ballots in the June 5, 2018 primary election.   The elections office is still tabulating the totals in all 29 precincts.

   Those who vote we consider to be heroes. They can save our country and our county from destruction and mayhem. Those who don't vote, just don't care what happens!

Sheriff DiBasilio loses %--now below 50%

   As of 10:30 PM on June 5, 2018 DiBasilio has lost his over 50% win and is now at 49% with Gary Stevens at 29 and Garrahan at 20%.

   This would mean a runoff between DiBasilio and Stevens in November. Stevens is the only pro-BAN candidate.

Leslie Davis will remain Calaveras Assessor, overhelming vote

   UPDATE:  This turned out to be an illegal burn pile.  Engines are responding

Fire reported in Mountain Ranch

  June 5, 2018 at 6:30 PM:  A grass fire has been reported on Greenhills Court near Wendell Road in Mountain Ranch.

   Fire personnel are responding to the area.  It's possibly a control burn. CalFire has received many reports of smoke, but mostly in Arnold area due to USFS control burn.

Police just called to Bret Harte High School

   June 5, 2018 at 6:25 PM:  Police were just dispatched to Bret Harte High School due to voter problems and an Angels Camp City Council meeting.

   If it isn't one thing it's another in Angels Camp. Perhaps if they elect some new City Council persons.

Water skiing accident at Melones
