Angels City office flooded--move to bank

   The City of Angels Camp had one of their buildings flooded and have now moved into the old Umpqua Bank building that Middleton owns.

  The cost of this damage and move are on the City Council agenda on December 4, 2018.

Fiery crash outside Lockeford

   November 30, 2018 at 12:30 PM:  Three vehicles, one a big rig, have reportedly collided on Locust Tree Road and Kettleman Lane outside Lockeford, just off Hwy 88.

   At least one vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when first reported. An ambulance is responding to the scene.  Six CHP have been dispatched to the crash.

   On Tuesday December 4, 2018 the Calaveras Supervisors will hold a Closed Session for Employee Discipline/Dismissal/Release prior to their regular Board meeting.

    They also have a Closed Session to replace the County Administrator Tim Lutz, who is leaving Calaveras after only 18 month.

   November 30, 2018 at 9:25 AM:  A PT Cruiser has run off Hwy 4 near Poole Station Road in Angels Camp.

   November 30, 2018 at 9 AM:  A tree has fallen into power lines and across Hwy 108 near Mono Way in Sonora.

Permits to burn okay by Calfire

   This morning Calfire issued that today is a legal burn day if you have a permit in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties.

   It's been many months since burning was permitted in the district.

Free sandbags at Angels Camp Police department

   The Angels Camp Police department has announced that they have free sandbags available at the office on Monte Verde Street.

   Bags, sand and a shovel are available for use, but you must bag the sand yourself.

Bear Valley gets 2 more feet of snow

   The storm that poured rain on most of Calaveras County yesterday, piled the snow up another 2 feet at Bear Valley.

   Nothing in Arnold yet, but another storm expected Saturday afternoon is expected to drop snow
levels to 2800'.  Keep your shovels and chains handy.

Angels Camp woman arrested

   According to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office on November 25, 2018 they arrested Riki Angela Eltringham (40) of Angels Camp on Hwy 4 at Parrotts Ferry Road in Vallecito.

   Eltringham was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Vehicle Theft and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, both felonies and for 6 outstanding Failure to Appear Warrants, misdemeanors.

Stanislaus County deputy killed

Deputy Hinostrosa was a longtime Stanislaus
County deputy.
   A Stanislaus County Sheriff's deputy was killed last night while assisting in a chase of a DUI suspect on Claribel Road in the Riverbank area.

   The vehicle struck the curb and became airbound, striking a power pole.

 Christopher Watts, (33) of Colorado, who pleaded guilty to killing his pregnant wife and two daughters and dumping their bodies in oil containers, was sentenced this morning.

   The judge sentenced Watts to life in prison plus 60 years while relatives said he was a "heartless monster". He took a plea rather than face the death penalty.ill

  November 15, 2018 at 1:30 PM:  CHP is in pursuit of a vehicle on Hwy 49 outside Angels Camp.

   No details yet on the reason for the pursuit.

Officer involved shooting in Butte County evacuation area

   Word has just come across that there has been an officer involved shooting in the Butte County evacuation area.

   We don't yet have details of the incident.

Charges in death of Green Beret

   Two Marines Raiders and two Navy Seal Six Team members were arrested and charged with allegedly murdering an Army Green Beret who was strangled in 2017.

    Army Staff Sgt. Logan Melgar was found strangled during an alleged burglary.

Brush fire in Farmington

   November 15, 2018 at 10:40 AM:  A brush fire has been reported on Hwy 4 in Farmington.

   Fire personnel is responding to the scene. Be cautious if in the area.

Camp Fire death toll rises again

   As of November 15, 2018 the official death toll in the Camp Fire is 56. Many others are still missing and the National Guard has been called in to help search for victims.

   135,000 acres and over 7000 homes have been destroyed in this fire so far, which is now 35% contained.

One Paradise victim says....

  "They'll never call it paradise again!"

  So sad, but possibly true. The Feds now say the town cannot be rebuilt the way it was.  And the camps where victims are surviving are nothing more than refugee camps.

Possible rain next week

   The 10 day weather outlook shows possible rain and even snow at the higher elevations in the middle of next week.

   We can only hope that is true, for our forest's sake and to dampen the fire red flags.

   November 14, 2018 at 9:15 AM:  Three local CHP have been sent to assist with the Camp Fire in Butte County, as residents line up to return to Paradise.

   Those who don't know whether they are burned out or not are very eager to get into town and find out their fate and law enforcement is assisting in the effort.

RV fire in Escalon

   November 13, 2018 at 12 Noon:  An RV has been reported on fire on Lone Tree Road in Escalon.

   Fire personnel state it is totally burned out!  A tow truck and investigators are responding to the scene.

Firearm Arrest in Arnold

  On November 11, 2018 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Harley Ray Davidson (20) of Arnold at his residence on Flamingo Circle.

   Davidson was booked into the Calaveras County Jail

Woolsey Fire in Ventura County update

   As of 7 AM on November 13, 2018 the Woolsey Fire is 96,314 acres and is 35% contained.

   435 structures have been destroyed and there are two reported fatalities. The US Forest Service reports that 83% of land in the Santa Monica National Recreation area has been destroyed by this fire and the park is now closed.

Camp Fire in Butte County: Update

   As of November 13, 2018 at 7 AM the Camp Fire in Butte County had destroyed 125,000 acres of land, 6522 residences and 260 businesses, mostly in the town of Paradise.

   The total fatalities keeps rising as the authorities look for the missing among the ashes.  As of this  morning the total is 42.

Grass fire in Oakdale

   November 12, 2018 at 2 PM:  A grass fire has been reported near Hwy 108 and Wamble Road in the Oakdale area.

   Several fire units are responding to the scene.

Collision on Hwy 4

   November 12, 2018 at 1:30 PM:  A collision has damaged a Caltrans electric box to the signal at Hwy 4 and Milton Road below Copperopolis.

   A Subaru and a pickup hit head-on. An ambulance is responding to the scene.

Minor injuries in Murphys Collision

   November 12, 2018 at 12 Noon:  A collision on Hwy 4 in front of the firehouse was reported in Murphys.

   Minor injuries resulted from this collision.

   November 12, 2018 at 8 AM:  A vehicle collision has been reported at Ridge Road and Running Gold Road in Sutter Hill.

   An ambulance and the Amador County Sheriff are responding. The driver was apparently not the owner of the vehicle.

Death toll in Camp Fire climbs to 29

   Over 200 are still missing and unaccounted for in the Camp Fire in Butte County.

   Fatalities from this fire now total 29 and could increase as authorities check everywhere.

Chico State closes as fire nears city

  Not willing to take any chances on a fire that grew 70,000 acres in 24 hours, Chico State University has closed it's door for the duration of the Camp Fire.

   It was just reported that the fire is nearing the city limits of Chico.
