Chains required at Cottage Springs

   Caltrans is now requiring chains on all cars without 4 wheel drive on Hwy 4 at Cottage Springs.

   Drive carefully if headed up the mountain.

Hwy 88 closed--avalanche control

   At 1:30 PM on December 5, 2018 Caltrans closed Hwy 88 at Carson Spur for avalanche control.

   It isn't known when the roadway will reopen so find an alternate route over the pass.

Car vs. tree in Murphys

   December 5, 2018 at 1:10 PM:  A car struck a parked car at Big Trees Road and Main Street in Murphys, causing the parked car to hit a tree.

   No injuries have been indicated. CHP is at the scene. A tow truck is responding.

Collision in Mokelumne Hill

   December 5, 2018 at 11:40 AM:  A collision has been reported on Hwy 26 at Paloma Road in Mokelumne Hill.

    One car is in the ditch. An ambulance is responding to the scene.

Possible water main break in Vallecito

   December 5, 2018 at 10:40 AM:  A possible water main break has been reported on Hwy 4 near Batten Road in Vallecito.

   Water is apparently shooting up around 100' into the air. Murphys Fire is responding and CCWD has bee notified.

Calaveras Supervisors take out LOAN to fix roof

   The new roof and or repairs are costing the taxpayers $174,000. Since there is NO money

   After lunch at the Calaveras Supervisors meeting the big sign at the back of the Board Room was changed.
