Calaveras Genealogical Society meets

  On Tuesday March 12, 2019 the Calaveras Genealogical Society will meet from 10 AM to 12 PM at the Main County Library.

  The topic will be fur traders, the Metis people, and researching Native American Ancestors by Trevor Cuthill.

25 vehicles blocking Hwy 4 in Avery

   February 18, 2019 at 2 PM:  Over 25 vehicles have been reported parked improperly on Hwy 4 at Moran Road in Avery.

   CHP is responding and the Calaveras County Sheriff has been notified.

Caution: Vehicles blocking roadways

   February 19, 2019 at 11:30 AM:  Be cautious if on Hwy 4 near the Red Apple as many vehicles are stopped to play in the snow and put on chains.

   Also on Lower Moran Road near Hwy 4, multiple vehicles are stopped. Apparently the Calaveras Sheriff is attempting to clear.

Copperopolis woman arrested

  On February 17, 2019 the Calaveras Sheriff's Office arrested Carrie Alyssa Sanders (37) of Copperopolis at her residence on Bridlewood Lane.

   Sanders was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Receiving Stolen Property and for Vehicle Theft, both felonies.

 

Cows on Poole Station Road

   February 18, 2019 at 9:15 AM: Cows are reportedly on Poole Station Road near the Cement Plant in San Andreas.

   Be cautious until the owner can be located.

Hwy 4 open to Bear Valley--Chains required

  February 18, 2019 :  Hwy 4 is open to the Bear Valley turnoff, but chains are required east of Murphys.

   Drive carefully!  Although the road is well-plowed there is a layer of solid ice on the pavement.
