Calaveras Animal Services blocks surrenders due to Canine Influenza

   Amador County has an outbreak of Canine Influenza and Calaveras County is very concerned about the spread.

   If your dog seems sick take him to a vet immediately. No surrenders will be accepted by the county due to fear of the disease.

Tryon and Angels Gun Club still fighting

   The lawsuit between Tom Tryon and the Angels Gun Club is continuing and is now being heard by Calaveras Supervisors.

Two year old killed by family dog

   A two year old boy has been attacked and killed by the family dog; a pit bull - mastiff mix in his own back yard in Newman.

San Francisco bans all tobacco

   Assuming the mayor signs it, San Francisco will become the first major US city to ban all tobacco products, including E-cigarettes.

   Is this a sign of the future, or just one liberal US city on its own?  We'll see!

Mueller will testify in July

   On 17, 2019 Robert Mueller will testify before two House committees. He was served with a subpoena to assure his cooperation.

   Whether he will go beyond what was in his report is unclear, but at least he will testify, and publicly for the American people to see and hear.

San Andreas woman arrested

   On June 25, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Samantha Marie Marley (26) of San Andreas on Lombardi Drive.

   Marley was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for several alleged outstanding warrants for Forgery, Counterfeiting and using others ID to get credit, all felonies and for several various misdemeanor warrants.

   We aren't sure what his purpose is or what he intends to speak about.  Chair Garamendi is absent today and Callaway is running the meeting.

Budget Hearings in Calaveras!

  With less money available in the coming year, the Calaveras Board of Supervisors is watching their pennies during current budget hearings.

   It's clear that some things that were planned will be postponed to the future. Which ones are not yet known or decided by the board.

Major injury collision in Tuolumne

   June 24, 2019 at 5:20 PM:  A major injury collision has been reported on Buchanan Drive near Canyon Road in Tuolumne.

   An ambulance and tow truck responded to the scene. Only one vehicle was involved.

Arrest at Zippy Mart

   On June 22, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Krista Lynn Swift (38) of San Andreas at the Valley Springs Zippy Mart.

    Swift was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Burglary, a felony.

Arnold man arrested

   On June 20, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Ryan J. Utterback (32) of Arnold at the Calaveras County Jail in San Andreas.

   Utterback was booked into the Jail

Burglary arrest in Murphys

   On June 21, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Anthony Delbert Fults (19) of Murphys on Hwy 4.

   Fults was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged 1st degree burglary and Vandalism.

CalFire prescribed burns in Amador-El Dorado counties

   CalFire plans to hold prescribed burns in Amador and El Dorado County on June 26 and 27, 2019.

   Burns are planned on Lyons Ranch and Baer Ranch if weather allows.

Angels Camp Police warn of power shutdown

   Angels Camp Police have issued a warning to residents that PG&E may be issuing power shut offs due to fire danger in this area also.

   They warn that gas pumps, in addition to the city's water treatment plants will be affected, in addition to residents and businesses and could last several days at a time.

Car vs pole on Mountain Ranch Road

   June 16, 2019 at 9 AM:  A grey mustang reportedly struck a pole on Mountain Ranch Road near Michel Road in Mountain Ranch.

PIlot who landed on Manhattan building was not cleared

   The eradic pattern of the helicopter before it went down, crashing into the top of a 54 story Manhattan building, indicates the pilot may have been lost in the fog.

  No record of his calling the tower was indicated and he was not licensed to fly in the fog. The pilot was the only one to die in the crash.

Two vehicles strike deer

   June 13, 2019 at 9:45 AM:  Two separate vehicles have reportedly struck a deer on Twain Harte Drive and East Avenue in Twain Harte.

   Being called a MENACE to Society, among other things, Trent Fiorino, a pastor who reportedly calls those in the LGBTQ community sinners and worse, applied to be a D1 Planning Commissioner.

   Citizen after citizen stood up at the podium to tell the Supervisors how a lawsuit would likely happen, how Fiorino cannot separate his religious beliefs from the government, etc.

   On June 1, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Joslyn Grace Payne Berard (23) with no known address, at Treats General Store in San Andreas.

   Berard was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly manufacturing, importing, selling or Possession of metal knuckles, a felony and for an outstanding warrant for failure to appear, a misdemeanor.

Declawing cat illegal in New York

   The state of New York has become the first in the country, (and hopefully not the last), to pass a law making in illegal to declaw a cat.

   Cats lose their balance and are unable to defend themselves after their torturous practice is
completed. Come on, California! 

Calaveras Jail inmate work program expanded

   Now women will be allowed to work outside the jail on various projects, including landscaping, fire prevention, cemetery cleaning, etc, just as the men currently are.

   Credits for time-served is an incentive for this program.

Calaveras Supervisors to appoint new D 1 Planning Commissioner

   On Tuesday June 11, 2019 the Calaveras Supervisors will approve the appointment of a new Planning Commissioner for District 1.

   Two have applied for the position; Sharon Romano and Trent Fiorino.

Calaveras County Sheriff's Office hiring Bailiffs
