Voice of the Wood braids their stories with sound effects, dramatic narration and masked movement. Stories come alive and find a place in the hearts and minds of all the children who hear them.
Voice of the Wood will present two stories at each school whereby one artist tells the story and the other animates it. Each story is a blend of history, culture, music, and dance. Students learn in the process to be active, inventive story tellers and in the spirit of Aesop’s Fables, they take away a greater understanding and celebration of diversity and the triumph of good in the human spirit.
The Calaveras Arts Council respectfully thanks the Calaveras Community Foundation for their generosity and support for the arts. CCF has been instrumental in introducing students to the arts through their generous grants within the Calaveras Arts Council’s Arts in Education Program, Performing Artists in the Schools.
Performance Location and Dates:
- West Point Elementary and Rail Road Flat Elementary; May 14;
- San Andreas Elementary and Mokelumne Hill Elementary; May 21
