"Who Will Care for the Animals"

Who Will Care For County Animals?
Since the Sheriff's Department is unable to continue overseeing Calaveras County Animal Services, we have to wonder who will agree to accept Animal Services come July when it is turned back over to the county .
With budgets so tight, and worse fiscal news from Governor Browns office as recent as yesterday, will the County Supervisors let the animals suffer?   Supervisor Callaway has bragged many times about her Humane Society, which we found out is not part of the nationwide Humane Society.
Why have they not taken over in the existing building? Oh, because they want to wait until they can build a multi-million dollar facility in Angels Camp?  This is not a sensible solution, especially in the dire economic times which our county finds itself.  What other county department is qualified to care for the needs of the animals and the safety of the public.  We only have one Animal Services field officer in the entire county as it is, will this get worse with Animal Services being bounced around between county departments.
Has there not been an animal lover in front of the Board of Supervisors who has offered to take over the animal pound. Was that the Humane Society? What happened? Animals first, and fancy buildings last is what we say.  What is going on behind the scenes? Are they just moving it to Environmental Health's control at budget time?  We are concerned that this is about politics and not the animals well-being.
