Property Rights Alert!

Op-Eds in the Wind    by  P. Pereira of Campo Seco
I would like to address the followng:
The letter to the Editor Re: Embrace Agenda 21 by M. Zeller states:  "Agenda 21 would be carried out by the "various actors" to the different situations, capabilities and priorities of counties and regions"
Private enterprise and a free market economy are the very basis of freedom in this country. A free economy is what has made America the Land of Opportunity.
We can make choices and decisions for ourselves.  Do we need "various actors" when we have elected officials?
Agenda 21 would be carried out?  I missed any explanation of a Vote and public hearings.
The citizenry needs to be reminded that this same person advocating to embrace Agenda 21 helped author the Cal Trans Grant that was awarded approximately $275,000 of our tax dollars to update the VS Community Plan.
Several agencies, MVS.com and paid consultants spent the grant and designed the unsuccessful concept of the Greater Valley Springs Community Plan encompassing adjoining subdivisions and several historical town-sites.
Grant decisions were made on behalf of VS landowners including implementation of "Smart Growth Principles" without approval and full disclosure.
Property rights were ignored and landowner representation was eliminated.  Unknown implications to the future of private lands, life style, smart growth, and lack of full disclosure created a firestorm of controversy, protest, public rejection and resulted in withdrawal by Rancho Calaveras and the Valley Springs Town-site.
Another VS Community Plan Update was written by the VS Citizenry Committee holding to the original boundaries and was approved by the BOS as the Preferred Plan.  No taxpayer or grant funding was used.
Any expansion of the VS Community boundaries should not have been dictated by authors of grants, appointed committees or people transported from other areas to influence voting results whose agenda was to implement "Smart Growth-Agenda 21" principles through the back door that would restrict the private property belonging to others.
Based on the past history, who wants to embrace more government control, higher taxes and more of the above?
