Yesterday we received a letter in the mail...from the Calaveras Enterprise supposedly signed by the owner, Ralph Arledge. There was no date on the letter, but in our opinion, it rambled on about the Sierra Sentinel delivery people allegedly putting our newspapers in the spots reserved for their paper.
Once we stopped laughing (this took 2 days), we asked a few questions of a few knowing people.
They told us that, in fact, that it is other papers who often put their papers in slots other than those assigned by managers of stores, etc.
Then they mentioned the Lodestar, now being called the Sierra Lodestar. Hmmm...we do need to speak with our attorney about that. Do they fear the Sierra Sentinel that much? Many people we've asked, believe they do.
Since the owner of this paper owns several other businesses, we asked him about the Lodestar and their delivery people. We heard some very interesting comments from employees, etc. According to our sources, the Lodestar is "DUMPED" in front of businesses who never ordered it; one in particular states that he tells everyone in the winter, "FREE FIRE STARTER", and hence rids himself of it.
We know, we haven't mentioned that the Calaveras Enterprise owner, who made a big deal of printing in their paper that they were going to one day a week and then changed their minds. (hmmm?) Rumors are rampant about contracts with the County, etc.
Is that paper so out of the loop of "real news" that they aren't even been aware that the Sierra Sentinel has been an online newspaper for a month. So much for knowing what goes on in Calaveras County.
We are terrified, of course (lol), because this undated, rambling letter threatens legal action "WITHOUT FURTHER NOTICE". Some who have seen it have asked, "In what country does that guy practice law?" (to be continued)
