Training will be conducted in the morning in the Arnold/Avery area at a building off of Hwy 4. The teams will be training on explosive entry techniques for about 2 hours beginning at 9 AM.
The types of explosives used in this training are very minute, and can be expected to be as loud as a gunshot. There is absolutely no danger to the public or any possibility of damage to surrounding properties.
The teams will then move to the Angels Camp and Copperopolis areas to conduct multi-agency scenarios which are expected to be concluded by 6 PM.
There may be up to three dozen people involved in the training session, including several armored vehicles and tactically uniformed personnel.
This training is an important component in the security and safety of the citizens of Calaveras County and bonds the teams into one cohesive unit in times of emergency.
The Calaveras County SWAT team works closely with Amador and Tuolumne County SWAT teams and has assisted and received assistance from both counties on several significant incidents over the past several years.
The training coordinators ask that all non-involved persons stay away from the training areas for their safety. All inquiries can be made directly to the Calaveras County Sheriff's Office.
