Have you ever been "Borked"?

Robert  Bork, an American legal scholar who advocated the judicial philosphy of originalism died on December 19, 2012.

Famous for having been nominated for a seat on the Supreme Court by Ronald Reagan in 1987, the term "Borked" became famous when the American Civil Liberties Union and Women's Rights groups opposed his appointment. He was not confirmed.

Bork had also been intrumental in what is known as the "Saturday Night Massacre" in 1973, when President Nixon ordered his Attorney General Elliot Richardson to fire Archibald Cox for demandind the tapes of Nixons Oval Office conversations in the Watergate Investigation.

Richardson resigned instead. Deputy Attorney General William Ruckelshaus also resigned, and Bork was next in line. Bork complied and fired Cox, an act later found to be illegal in November of that year after a lawsuit was filed.

During the confirmation hearings many private things were brought out about Bork. Now there is talk that Petraeus may have been "Borked"!  Don't you just love politics?
