CCWD imposes severe rules on Water--Don't forget your day!!

Effective May 13, 2015 CCWD imposed all kinds of new rules for use of water in Calaveras County.

1.) All customer owned leaks must be repaired within 72 hours of CCWD notification.

2.)  All outdoor irrigation is prohibited between
the hours of 9 AM and 7 PM.

    3.)  Ornamental landscape irrigation
with potable water is limited to two days per week:

Odd-numbered addresses Tuesdays and Saturdays only

Even number addresses Wednesdays and Sundays only

No outdoor watering on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays

Edible gardens and orchards used as a food source and newly planted (CCWD sold them) native plants may be watered one extra day a week, at the discretion of property owners.

4.)  Irrigating outdoors within 48 hours of measurable rainfall is prohibited.

5.)  Using a hose without an automatic shut off valve to wash vehicles, boats, trailers, etc. is prohibited.  These items may only be washed on your approved irrigation days.

WAHING VEHICLES IS ALLOWED?  Then there is no shortage of water in reality!!

6.)  Use of water in decorative fountains and recreational ponds is prohibited unless it has a circulating pump.

7.)  This one is NUTS!  New pools and spas are banned from being filled, but they are allowing topping off all pools and spas. (That is a total waste and uses a great amount of water, as anyone with a pool or spa will tell you)

There are many other regulations for businesses. It states that CCWD will use their investigators to check on water wasters, but we know that is not done. We heard that last year some people got away with tons of waste and violations, and NO FINES, while others adhered to the rules.

We heard many complaints about CCWD's inability or desire to fine certain people who watered on banned days or wasted water.

Also, the fact that CCWD is allowing POOLS and SPAS to be refilled is an absolute waste of water and should be banned. As long as they allow this, there is no real shortage of water, in our opinion.

The problem is, these people are the wealthy, and friends of CCWD. Judging from last year, they have definite favorite people they NEVER would fine.

I don't get it. Idiots who wash their cars far too often and refill their pools and spas (the rich people), but we can't water our grass???

You didn't write about SPI being allowed to use water without limits for its clear-cut operations, but CCWD is allowing that. NO LIMITS!!

Yes, as always, we the common folk are the easiest to manipulate so we get the mandates and the big folk get to use all the water they want. Not fair of course!
