Man admits causing Courtney Fire

A man who set fire to a deer carcass has come forward to admit he was the one who started the Courtney Fire near Oakhurst last month that reached Bass Lake. He apparently has apologized, but his name has not been released.

320 acres and 30 homes were destroyed in the fire.  He told authorities that he was trying to get rid of the stench of the rotting deer. He stated that it was an accident and has not been charged or arrested in the incident.
