38 Republicans vote against U.N. Treaty

As what Senator Harking called a "shameful day in America", 38 Republicans voted against the U.N. Convention on the Rights of People with Disabilities Treaty on Tuesday, December 4, 2012.

Robert Dole, lifelong Republican and past Presidential candidate, who was present in his wheelchair, along with many others who are aware that we are in a global world, all Democrats and 8 Republicans voted in favor of the treaty. In our opinion, it went down to defeat due to isolationist, racist, and uneducated views of the world.

This protects the big corporations who build factories overseas, allowing them to save money by not providing access to the disabled.

It also means that the military disabled, who were represented in the Senate by one veteran missing a leg, will not get any of the rights in many other parts of the world, hampering their ability to travel.
