Several small fires have been contained

  Several small fires believed to have been lightning caused in Calaveras County, have now been contained.

   One in Copperopolis, one on Swiss Ranch Road and one in Forest Meadows were all  caught early and crews were able to get them contained without much trouble.

   July 23, 2019 at 1:35 PM:  A fire has been reported on Mountain Ranch Road just outside San Andreas.

   Units are responding to the scene, along with dozers and water tenders.

   July 23, 2019 at 1PM:  A car reportedly struck garbage cans and a pole on Baldwin Street in Rancho Calaveras.

   CHP is responding. It isn't known if there are injuries.

   On July 20, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Tonya Elaine Rogers (41) of West Point at the Academy Club on Main Street.

   Rogers was booked into the Calaveras Couty Jail for alleged Conspiracy to Commit a Crime, a felony.

Angels Camp Police nab shoplifter

   On July 20, 2019 Angels Camp Police arrested Shaun Nicholas Johnson (31) of Angels Camp in front of the Sierra Gas Station.

   Johnson was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Shoplifting and Receiving Stolen Property under $950 in value, misdemeanors and for Violation of Parole, a felony.

    It is partially blocking the roadway, so be extra cautious.

Calaveras Animal Services blocks surrenders due to Canine Influenza

   Amador County has an outbreak of Canine Influenza and Calaveras County is very concerned about the spread.

   If your dog seems sick take him to a vet immediately. No surrenders will be accepted by the county due to fear of the disease.

San Francisco bans all tobacco

   Assuming the mayor signs it, San Francisco will become the first major US city to ban all tobacco products, including E-cigarettes.

   Is this a sign of the future, or just one liberal US city on its own?  We'll see!

Mueller will testify in July

   On 17, 2019 Robert Mueller will testify before two House committees. He was served with a subpoena to assure his cooperation.

   Whether he will go beyond what was in his report is unclear, but at least he will testify, and publicly for the American people to see and hear.

San Andreas woman arrested

   On June 25, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Samantha Marie Marley (26) of San Andreas on Lombardi Drive.

   Marley was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for several alleged outstanding warrants for Forgery, Counterfeiting and using others ID to get credit, all felonies and for several various misdemeanor warrants.

   June 24, 2019 at 5:20 PM:  A major injury collision has been reported on Buchanan Drive near Canyon Road in Tuolumne.

   An ambulance and tow truck responded to the scene. Only one vehicle was involved.

   Angels Camp Police have issued a warning to residents that PG&E may be issuing power shut offs due to fire danger in this area also.

   They warn that gas pumps, in addition to the city's water treatment plants will be affected, in addition to residents and businesses and could last several days at a time.
