Nice weather for New Year's Day

   The last two rainstorms have missed us, going north instead.  The weather is supposed to be nice tomorrow.

   It will be a few days til the next weather system heads our way, but it is very cold in the mornings!

Vallecito man arrested

   On December 21, 2019 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Corbett Fanen Winkler (45) of Vallecito on Sunset Road in San Andreas.

   Winkler was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Possession of a Vehicle with altered numbers and for Violation of Probation, both felonies.

Big rig vs. two vehicles

   December 16, 2019 at 12:50 PM:  A big rig reportedly lost control and struck two vehicles at Hwy 99 and Hwy 120 in Manteca, causing one to overturn.

   One of the Butte Fire victims came to the Calaveras Supervisor podium this morning to complain that before the Butte Fire his property was valued at $45,000 for tax purposes.

   Now, he says, it is valued at $78,000. He was totally burned out, not even a tree left. How could it be more valuable now?

Arrest at Mark Twain Hospital

   According the the Calaveras Sheriff on December 9, 2019 just before 6 PM they arrested Taylor Elise Stevenson (28) of Stockton at Mark Twain Hospital.

   Stevenson was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Battery with Serious Bodily Injury, Vandalism and Willful Cruelty to a Child, all felonies.

   This is the 20th anniversary of the Calaveras Community Foundation, which started in 2000.

   Local non-profits can apply for grants. The total amount available this year will be $25,000.

CCWD says discolored water possible in Ebbetts Pass
