Calfire intends to hold a control burn at the observation area at Hogan Reservoir tomorrow May 20, 2021.
Approximately 12 acres of rabbit habitat is to be burned for training purposes.

Caltrans is closing Ebbetts Pass Hwy 4 and Sonora Pass Hwy 108 on Thursday at noon.

Caltrans will be working on Hwy 4 in Angels Camp, Hwy 12 in Double Springs and Hwy 26 in Railroad Flat this week.
Be extra cautious and watch for flagmen.
New Angels Camp Councilperson resigns
Due to his moving outside of the Angels Camp City limits, the newly elected Councilman Jeremy Leonard has found it necessary to resign.
Leonard was elected in November of 2020.

If you live in the Blue Lake Springs area of Arnold, you were disturbed by the sound of helicopters flying back and forth last evening.
Apparently there were drownings and injuries at the river and they were being rescued by the copters.

Caltrans has been plowing Hwy 108 and it reopened at Noon today, May 6, 2021.
Hwy 4 Ebbetts Pass is still not open, but Caltrans is working on it and hopes to have it completed by May 10, 2021.

Arrest for assault and evasion
On April 28, 2021 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Robert Wayne Powers II (38) of Railroad Flat on Lilly Gap in West Point.
Powers was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Evasion of police and Assault, both felonies and for Obstructing a police officer, Driving without a license and two other traffic infractions.
