Final total of homes burned in Santa Cruz Mountains (CZU) fire
It took a long time to figure out and count all of the homes burned in the big Santa Cruz Mountains Fire.
The final count is 911. Sad, but true. The redwoods are not as resistant to fire as some believed.

The more fascinating part of this story is only 30 something homes have been rebuilt. Regulation overreach has made building so prohibitive, only 3% have done it. I wonder how many have rebuilt after the Butte fire?
