   Singer Kenny Rogers, famous for "Lady" and "The Gambler" has passed away at his home in Georgia.

PG&E used the Meadowmont parking lot to chain up and wait for

   Although Calaveras Unified has closed all of their schools due to the Coronavirus, they will be providing meals to those children who need them.

   Due to the COVID-19 virus, the March 21, 2020 Murphys Irish Day has been cancelled.  The governor banned anything with over 250 people.

  The Calaveras County Fair is still on the schedule because they say it comes after the 1 month ban on events.  We'll see what happens in April.

47 have Coronavirus at Washington care facility

   As of this morning, 47 employees have tested positive for the Coronavirus or COVID-19 at the Kirkland Care facility in Washinton state.

   24 other employees came back negative for the disease.

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff on March 12, 2020 deputies arrested Rebecca Lynne Boyett (43) of San Andreas on Valley View Drive in Arnold.

   Boyett was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Vehicle Theft and Receiving known  Stolen Property, both felonies and for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a misdemeanor.

Mills might ask for recount

  In the Calaveras Supervisor of District 4 race yesterday, Dennis Mills lost to Amanda Folendorf by 49 votes, or 49.16% to 50.84%.  Folendorf 1479 and Mills 1430 per the Elections department.

   Mills could ask for a recount and if Amanda should get less we could have a runoff . You need to get 50%+ to avoid a runoff in the primary.

Mokelumne Hill woman arrested

   On March 2, 2020 Calaveras Sheriff's deputies arrested Chantell Lynn Barnett (20) of Mokelumne Hill on Hwy 12 in Valley Springs.

   Barnett was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged Vehicle Theft and Receiving Stolen Property, both felonies.

Burglary arrest in West Point

   According to the Calaveras Sheriff, Gregory Wayne Moore (20) of Pioneer was arrested on Barney Way in West Point on February 28, 2020.

    Moore was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for alleged 2nd degree burglary, a felony and for Tampering with a vehicle, Trespassing and Disorderly Conduct, misdemeanors.

   March 1, 2020 at 9:50 AM;  A cow has been reported on Hwy 49 near  Carol Kennedy Drive and the Calaveras County Airport.

   Be extra cautious until authorities can locate the owner and remove the cow and remove it from the roadway.

Slide on Hwy 88

   March 1, 2020 at 9:45 AM:  A snow slide has been reported blocking Hwy 88 near Devils Gate Road in Carson Pass.

   Trying to get more equipment to the site, where a snowblower went out and people are trying to dig the roadway clear.  Be extra cautious.
