    On November 26, 2024 a mobile home was reportedly on fire in Avery.  Ebbetts Pass Fire responded as the home was fully engulfed. 

   They were able to bring the fire under control without additional engines.

    Late on November 20, 2024 Calfire responded to a report of a grass fire at Hwy 12 and Briski Road outside San Andreas.

   The fire reached 48 acres before being brought under control.  It made the channel 3 news.

Arrest at Burson Market

    On November 15, 2024 Calaveras deputies responded to a report of alleged felony Threats to intimidate a witness at the Burson Market.

   Tony James Soloman (46) of Campo Seco was booked into the Calaveras County Jail additionally for alleged Hit and Run and injuring a spouse or cohabitant. Three outstanding warrants had been issued. 

    

Assault with a Deadly Weapon in Arnold

   On November 17, 2024 at 1:35 AM Calaveras Sheriff deputies responded to a report of an alleged Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

   The Sheriff's report indicates is occurred on Manuel Road in Arnold. No other details are available.

Winter Storm Warning

    The weather bureau has just issued a storm weather warning for the western sierras tomorrow, likely in Ebbetts Pass.

    Starting Tuesday through Wednesday, snow is expected to reach 3000'. Be extra careful if on the raodways.

Man dies in Calaveras Sheriff custody

   On Sunday November 10, 2024 at 8:06 PM, officers at the Calaveras County Jail found an unresponsive incarcerated male.

   Although life saving measures were attempted the inmate died. His name was Benjamin Nava (43) of Valley Springs. 

Cows on Dogtown Road

   November 13, 2024 at 10:30 AM:  Black cows are reportedly in the roadway on Dogtown Road outside Angels Camp.

   Be extra cautious until authorities can find the owner and clear the roadway.

West Point man arrested

    On November 12, 2024 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Jordan Fox Peters (28) of West Point.

   Peters was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for allegedly Threatening with the Intent to Terrorize and being Prohibited from possessing ammunition, both felonies, along with other charges.

Firarm arrest in Wallace

    On November 7, 2024 Calaveras Sheriff deputies arrested Kyle Reed Bracken (67) on Hwy 12 near Wallace.

   Bracken was booked into Calaveras County Jail for allegedly three felonies involved assault and possession of drugs with a firearm and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Angels Camp to appoint City Administrator

    At their November 12, 2024 City Council meeting Angels Camp has appointing a new City Administrator on the Consent Agenda.

   On November 1, 2024 Calaveras Sheriff deputies booked Margaret JoAnn Williams (60) of Railroad Flat into the Calaveras County Jail.

   Williams is alleged to have assaulted a person with a firearm and made threats using a firearm, both felonies.

    On October 22, 2024 around 6:55 PM Angels Camp Police arrested Benjamin Denson (43) of Groveland at the Tractor Supply in Angels Camp.

   Denson was booked into the Calaveras County Jail for an outstanding warrant and for alleged Possession of Burglary tools and Possession of a Controlled Substance for sale, among other charges.

Notebook star Gena Rowlands dies

    Gina Rowlands, who played the older Allie in the movie The Notebook, has died at the age of 94.

   She had been diagnosed with dementia. Rowlands also appeared in many other movies over the years.

    On the August 13, 2024 Board of Supervisors agenda today, it was announced that Calaveras Sheriff Rick DeBasilio is retiring.

  Rachel Whiting was chosen to replace DeBasilio until the next election.

Collision in Milton

   August 13, 2024 at 9:10 AM:  Fire department has been dispatched out to Hwy 4 and Milton Road in Milton for an overturned car in a dry field.

   The original accident occured around 6:30 AM and there were minor injuries in the rollover.

    August 11, 2024 at 9:35 AM:  A car has reportedy run off Hwy 49 at Hwy 16 outside Plymouth.

   It has been indicated that the car was swerving before losing control. An ambulance is responding to the scene.

Summit Fire in Railroad Flat

    As of 7 AM August 11, 2024 the Summit Fire at Summit Road and Railroad Flat Road is 30 acres.

   Started in August 10, 2024, the cause has not yet been determined. Containment is still listed at 0%, but forward progress has apparently been stopped.

Evacuations difficult in Canyon Fire

    August 9, 2024 at 11 AM:  Evacuations of the entire area of Tuolumne City is not easy. The band of Me-Wuks and most other areas of town are being removed.

   At least one power line is down and one road is blocked due to trash being dumped from an evacuees truck.

Box truck crash

    August 9, 2024 at 7:50 AM:  A United box truck and a small sedan have reportedly crashed at Hwy 108 and J59 in Jamestown.

   Air ambulances are responding to the scene. The roadway is blocked. The box truck is leaking fluid.

    August 7, 2024 at 11:30 AM:  The Crozier Fire, which started in the middle of the night, has grown quickly to 182 acres.

   August 6, 2024 at 9:45 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Oak Circle in Arnold.

10,000 more acres?

   August 6, 2024:  Overnight the Park Fire has gained another 10,000 acres plus. The town of Mill Creek has been evacuated.

   The total acreage in this fire is now 414,042. It is 34% contained.  636 homes have been destroyed.

    August 4, 2024 at 2:40 PM:  A grass fire has been reported on Hwy 4 in Angels Camp.

   Several engines, air support, water tenders, dozers, etc. are responding.  This is near Appaloosa.

Governor Newsome refuses pay raise

    August 2, 2024:  Governor Gavin Newsome has written a letter refusing his approved 3.5% pay raise which would have taken effect at the end of this year.

   He indicates that severe budget concerns in California are the reason he feels he should share in the cuts.

Sun Fire in Mountain Ranch

    The Sun Fire off Mountain Ranch Road and Sun Road in Mountain Ranch was controlled at 5 acres on July 29, 2024 around 7 PM. Pretty scary!

    Mountain Ranch Road was closed for some time due to fire and mop up.  Engines are just now being released at 12:45 PM on July 30, 2024.

Cosgrove Fire burns 12 acres

   On July 27, 2024 the Cosgrove Fire caused evacuations and burned 12 acres in Pardee Ct. and Paloma Road area of Valley Springs.

   Forward progress was quickly stopped and evacuations lifted.

Park Fire continues on and on

   As of Monday evening July 30, 2024 the Park Fire is 383,000 acres, now the 5th largest fire in California history.

   165 structures have been destroyed and 15 damaged so far. The fire is now burning in Butte and Tehama counties.

   As of July 24, 2024 at 7:30 AM the Maria Fire in Mokelumne Hill is 65 acres and 20% contained.

   Injured firefighters were flown out for medical treatment yesterday due to the extreme heat.

   The two are being walked off the hill to a waiting ambulance apparently.

Helicopter arrives to fight Maria

    July 23, 2024 at 7:45 AM:  We just heard that a helicopter is now overhead the Maria fire.

   They have also ordered 10 additional water tenders for assistance with this fire.  It appears Hwy 26 is back open this morning. No CHP assigned.
