Another $444,000 + for the Jail

On the Consent Agenda at tomorrow's Calaveras Board of Supervisors meeting is another change order for Flintco
for $444,744 for additional fire smoke dampers and removal of unforeseen HARD ROCK? at the jail and office site for the Sheriff's office.

How could the bid not have expected hard rock in Calaveras County, is what our Supervisors should ask. The change-order game is played very well by Flintco, apparently.

Pay close attention to the answers by the county's representatives regarding review & responsibility. We even get to pay for their mistakes. Did Kitchell's contract have a "no promises made" clause?
Change orders have eaten up 57% of the 7.5% contingency allocation. Will the project meet or exceed the contract budget?
