On the Calaveras Supervisors October 10, 2023 agenda is an item increasing the amount paid to
California Rangeland Trust to over $900,000 in 2023.What is this about? Apparently this money pays ranchers not to sell their land in Calaveras County.
The main ones we can find listed are Oak Canyon Ranch which we believe is owned by Airola family, the Orvis family ranch on Hwy 4 and Touch the Earth ranch owned by the Garamendi family.
Is this our tax money going to wealthy ranch owners? This item is on the Consent agenda, so it won't even be discussed.
