    Due to the Dark Skies ordinances in Arizona there is no clear video with which to help catch the kidnappers of Nancy Guthrie.

   Let's hope no Dark Sky ordinance is being considered here in Calaveras.  Bad Idea!

Chains required on Hwy 4

    February 12, 2026 at 7:40 AM;  Chains are required this morning on Hwy 4 in Ebbetts Pass due to snow.

    Cottage Springs is the location where they will be necessary going to Bear Valley.  They got 10 inches in the past 24 hours and 19 inches in the past 72 hours.

   It is 31 degrees in Bear Valley and they are getting snow.  Beautiful, lovely snow!!

Levi Stadium has CLASS....

    All 174 luxury suites at the Levi Stadium during the Superbowl will be occupied.

   The cost of these suites is from $600,000 to 2.5 million to use during tomorrows game.  Will you be there?

New info on Guthrie case

    February 5, 2026 at 11 AM;   The FBI has informed the press that the deadline for a ransom for Nancy Guthries return is for 5 PM today.

   Also, the FBI is now offering a $50,000 reward for info. as of this morning. Still no sign of Nancy. One person has been arrested for attempting to get money with a false ransom note.

Burning in Arnold

    On January 28, 2026 and continuing for several days the CalFire station in Arnold will be burning around the station, a control burn.

    This is to clear the area of brush and train firefighters.

Election year...

    2026 is an elecetion year for both District 3 and District 5 Supervisors. Petitions are required by February 4.

    The filing deadline for those without petitions is March 6, 2026.

Traffic collision on Camp Nine

    January 18, 2026 at 1 PM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Camp Nine Road in the Murphyts area.
    An ambulance is responding to the scene.

Car vs tree in Murphys

    January 18, 2026 at 8:50 AM:  A car apparently struck a tree on Main Street in Murphys sending branches into the street.

   No injuries have been indicated but the car has major front end damage.

Collision on Hwy 12

    January 12, 2026 at 8:45 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 12 at Central Hill Road near Double Springs.

   One went down an embankment. It isn't yet known if there are injuries. A tow truck is responding.

    January 12, 2026 at 8:05 AM:  A traffic collision has been reported on Hwy 49 at Garbarini Ranch Road in San Andreas.

   It is blocking the road. It isn't yet known if there are injuries.

Chains on Hwy 4

    January 9, 2016 at 7:20 AM:  Caltrans is requiring chains at Cottage Springs on Hwy 4 this morning.

    Drive carefully. The roads are slick.
