Rosetta Probe dead after 10 years and billions of dollars?

After 10 years and more money than anyone wants to admit, the Rosetta probe landed on the comet they were aiming for.

Celebrations were short-lived, however, since the communication battery is dead and they don't know if they'll ever hear from it again.  It landed in a valley without sunlight, which would have kept the batteries charged for months.
