Letter to the Editor: Calaveras Lumber wants NO competition!! GREED!!

   Dear Editor:

My husband and I just heard that the Angels Camp City Council City Council has bowed and kissed Mike
Fullaway's you know what after he has objected to any business competing with his store, Calaveras Lumber.

Would you please publish my letter, to show the real reason for Fullaway's objections!

Oh, he makes all the excuses like he's some type of concerned citizen and planner who is worried about traffic, but he doesn't fool most of us.

Fullaway owns a low-paying jobs RETAIL business, just like Tractor Supply. However, Tractor Supply, who sells tools, chain saws, hardware, etc. buy big volume and will be able to offer residents cheaper prices.

What an embarrassment Fullaway is!  He doesn't make enough money, especially since he took over the same business in Sonora?

This is greed beyond greed.  And if the City of Angels Camp falls for it, a form of corruption, in our opinion.

Perhaps a BOYCOTT of Calaveras Lumber might be in order. Please DO NOT publish our names, since we know Fullaway and his unfriendly associates will get even.

What is wrong with the City of Angels Camp?   We are in favor of this new business and I plan to apply for a job there. I worked for Calaveras at one time, so I know what THEY are like!

Real residents, not so greedy as the Fullaways
in Angels Camp

I don't like or believe in boycotts, but Fulaway is just asking for it. You got it right. He's greed personified.

Rumors are that pattie spences is worried about competition in pet feed. I think they have been ripping people off for many years, just like Calaveras lumber.

Why don't you just move to sonora, Mr. Fullaway. You don't live in AC anyway. A little competition would be good for you, moneybags.

Maybe Mr. Fullaways would like a big TRUE VALUE hardware to come to town. I'd be for that. Not liking you, mr. fullway.

Isn't it interesting. Fullaway never said a word about the Dollar General. They don't sell hardware, huh, mike???????

I read their letter. He and Diane have given so much to the community. He's trying to say YOU OWE US not to allow any competition. This is a sad man.

Maybe he's upset that he couldn't sell his piece of junk land to TS and make a few mill? Is that it, Mikie?

40 years of devote community volunteerism and service, quality hardware and lumber, and these are the comments generated. Calaveras Lumber has provided employment opportunities for countless families, our children and our friends. The Fullaway's and their business has literally help build and support Angles Camp and this County.
Competition and sustainment of a viable family business should be an expected and understood concern of Mr. Fullaway's. This is an everyday issue in private business in any environment. However, Angles Camp City Council needs to be upfront and transparent with their City Development plan and sensitive to the impact of change, zoning, traffic, water and sewer and disruption of citizens and their livelihoods.
We all will have to live with decisions made here in Angles Camp, just like those we are dealing with from Calaveras County. Let's be thoughtful, deliberate and community oriented.
