No burning Avery or below
Calfire has ordered that there be no more burning even with a permit, below 3500' elevation.
That means anywhere below Avery is now a non burn area, regardless of permit. There is good reason, as everything is getting very dry already.

Burn permits required in Calaveras
As of May 1, 2026, Calfire is requiring burn permits in Calaveras County.
Go to your local Calfire office to apply.
